About the Opportunity:
Our client is a well-established, independently owned community bank that has served North Central Illinois for more than 120 years. Its Trust & Wealth Management group works closely with individuals, families and business owners on trust administration, estate planning and wealth preservation.
The bank is adding a CPA to serve as its in-house Trust & Wealth Tax Advisor. This is a technical, client-facing role that will grow into the team's go-to tax expert and succeed a long-tenured, highly valued tax resource. It is not a business development role. The ideal person enjoys the technical side of tax and can explain it clearly to clients.

What You Will Do:
Prepare and review fiduciary, trust and estate tax returns in house, including Form 1041 and Schedule K-1
Prepare personal tax returns for high net worth clients and business owners
Meet with clients and beneficiaries to explain filings, tax issues and related investment concepts in plain language
Serve as the tax resource for trust officers, wealth advisors and the operations team
Support tax planning, trust administration and income and principal allocation analysis
Partner with the fiduciary team on estate and wealth transfer matters
Help clients and colleagues make sense of complex tax topics so the right decisions get made
Grow into an officer-level relationship role with high net worth clients over time
What You Bring
Required
CPA license
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field
2 to 5+ years of tax experience
Hands-on experience preparing trust returns (Form 1041) and beneficiary K-1s
Strong written and verbal communication, with the ability to make complex tax topics simple
Preferred
Trust, fiduciary or wealth management experience at a bank, trust company or CPA firm
Experience working with high net worth individuals, families and business owners
CTFA or CFP designation
Public accounting background and an interest in moving to a client-centered, collaborative setting
Based within commuting distance of DeKalb County, or open to relocating
