Laundry Tunnel OperatorReports to: Laundry Dept. Manager/Asst. ManagerNote: Laundry positions are safety sensitive, requiring the utmost attention of employees to potential safety concerns. The Laundry Facility is non-air conditioned. High humidity, heat, and cold are environmental factors in this facility.Minimum Skills and Abilities Required:Perform physical activities that require moving one's whole body, such as bending, twisting, reaching, climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, kneeling and squatting. Able to lift 40 lbs. on a regular basisAble to stand in excess of 7 hours during a regular shiftMatch or detect differences between colors, including shades of color and brightnessMake quick, coordinated and repeated movements with fingers, hands, and wrists.Essential Functions and Responsibilities:Serves as a representative of Brett/Robinson, displaying courtesy, tact, consideration, and discretion in all interactions with other employees of Brett/Robinson, owners, guests, and other members of the communityOperates the tunnel control station, directing the laundry process from initial load through wash, extraction, and transfer to dryingPrograms and adjusts wash formulas, water levels, temperatures, and chemical injection rates according to fabric type and soil levelWatches gauges, dials, digital displays, and other indicators to ensure the tunnel system is operating properlyCoordinates the flow of articles through the tunnel system, adjusting speed and sequencing to maintain continuous productionDirects loaders, sorters, and dryer operators to keep production moving smoothly from station to stationIdentifies equipment malfunctions, jams, or irregularities, and promptly reports mechanical issues to the Laundry Manager or maintenanceMaintains accurate production records, including load counts, chemical usage, and cycle timesCleans machine filters and lint traps, and keeps the tunnel station, floor, and surrounding equipment cleanShares in general laundry production tasks as needed, including sorting, loading and unloading, folding, and pressing articlesExamines and sorts articles to be cleaned into lots, according to color, fabric, dirt content, and cleaning technique requiredReports safety hazardsPerforms other duties as assignedWorking Conditions:Ability to work flexible hours, 40+ hours per week, 7 days a week; according to seasonal needsWork environment includes exposure to inclement weather, heat, humidity, and coldRegular attendance and punctuality are expected in accordance to company policyI fulfill the minimum skills required and am able to perform the essential functions of this position.
