Job description
Twister Machine OperatorOperate the twister machine to twist packages of yarn according to the operator training manual and safety standards. This position adds value to Glen Raven by their commitment to achieve the highest level of production, quality and safety as well as teamwork when preparing yarn, received from the doubler, to be twisted into an end product and shipped.Follow company policies, safe work practices, prevent injury to yourself and other associatesReport any unsafe work condition or any work related injury to your supervisor immediatelyStart-up machines after lot change or cleaningObtain packages of doubled yarn from rackPlace packages of doubled yarn into potsRepair end breaksSplice endsDoff packagesRemove waste from spindle supply discMark cones with assigned colorPerform quality checks and recognize potential quality and productivity problemsFlag any damaged machinery and document in flag notebook located at computer deskExperienceShould take 2 months for someone to learn and become proficient at this jobKey SkillsAbility to read, write and follow instructionsRequires some basic math skillsAbility to work in a team-oriented environmentAbility to multi-task and work in an ever-changing environment with ongoing interruptionsWilling to be trained/updated on existing skillsAbility to work solo or with a teamAbility to communicate with other employeesAbility to perform job duties safely – SAFETY FIRSTPhysicalTextile Manufacturing Plant environmentHigh noise level work areaAbility to walk and standAbility to stoop, bend, stretch, push and pullPhysical effort consisting of constant use of handsLifting and moving packages ranging from 5 to 10 poundsTHIS IS A 12-HOUR NIGHT SHIFT POSITION 7am-7pm/ 36-48 hours per week.Equal Opportunity Employer/Protected Veterans/Individuals with Disabilities This employer is required to notify all applicants of their rights pursuant to federal employment laws.
