Location: Laredo, TX
Pay: Starting at $20.00 per hour; negotiable based on experience and qualifications
Schedule: Monday–Friday, with available shifts of:
8:00 AM–5:00 PM
9:00 AM–6:00 PM
10:00 AM–7:00 PM
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced U.S. Customs / Aduana Americana Specialist to support import and export operations. This role involves preparing customs entries, reviewing shipment documentation, coordinating customs clearance, and ensuring compliance with applicable requirements.
The ideal candidate has hands-on experience with U.S. Customs procedures, strong attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple shipments and deadlines in a fast-paced logistics environment.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare, review, submit, and monitor U.S. Customs entries and related documentation.
Verify commercial invoices, packing lists, bills of lading, and other shipping documents for accuracy and completeness.
Classify merchandise using Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS) codes, as applicable.
Review shipment information for compliance with U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) requirements.
Track shipment clearance and release status, providing timely updates to customers and internal teams.
Follow up on pending entries, customs holds, examinations, and missing documentation.
Communicate with customers, carriers, warehouses, and internal departments to coordinate shipment processing.
Research and resolve discrepancies involving customs entries or shipment documentation.
Maintain accurate, organized records of customs transactions.
Follow established procedures and applicable customs regulations.
Assist with additional administrative and operational tasks as assigned.
Required Qualifications
Previous experience in Aduana Americana, U.S. Customs, customs brokerage, or a related logistics role.
Knowledge of U.S. Customs documentation and import/export procedures.
Strong computer and data-entry skills.
Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple shipments and deadlines.
Strong communication and customer service skills.
High school diploma or equivalent.
Preferred Qualifications
Hands-on experience processing U.S. Customs entries.
Familiarity with CBP regulations and customs compliance requirements.
Experience working for a customs brokerage or freight forwarding company.
Knowledge of HTS classification, the Automated Commercial Environment (ACE), and related customs systems.
Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish.
