Job description
Event Security OfficerThe Event Security Officer is responsible for maintaining a safe, orderly, and secure environment during events. This role ensures the protection of guests, staff, property, and equipment by monitoring activity, enforcing venue rules, and responding quickly to incidents. Officers serve as the first point of contact for safety concerns and help uphold a positive experience for all attendees.Key Responsibilities:- Access Control — Monitor entrances/exits, verify credentials, manage guest flow, and prevent unauthorized entry.- Crowd Management — Observe crowd behavior, identify potential issues, and intervene early to prevent escalation.- Patrol & Surveillance — Conduct foot patrols of assigned areas, monitor high traffic zones, and report suspicious activity.- Incident Response — Respond to disturbances, medical emergencies, or safety hazards; coordinate with supervisors or emergency services as needed.- Conflict Deescalation — Use communication skills to calm tense situations and resolve minor disputes professionally.- Bag & Personal Item Screening — Perform bag checks or metal detector screening when required by event policy.- Communication — Maintain clear radio communication with the security team, event staff, and supervisors.- Documentation — Complete incident reports, visitor logs, and shift summaries accurately and promptly.- Customer Service — Provide directions, assist guests, and maintain a friendly, approachable presence while enforcing rules.- Emergency Procedures — Support evacuation plans, shelter-in-place protocols, and emergency response actions.Qualifications:- Prior security, law enforcement, or event operations experience preferred- Strong communication and interpersonal skills- Ability to stand or walk for extended periods- Ability to remain calm under pressure- Basic understanding of safety protocols and emergency response- Must pass background check and meet venue compliance requirements- CPR/First Aid certification preferred (or willingness to obtain)Core Competencies:- Situational Awareness- Professionalism- Integrity; Reliability- Team Coordination- Problem-solving- Customer Service Mindset
