Job description
Akkodis is seeking an Underbody Structure DRE for a Contract with a client in Dearborn, MI (Hybrid). The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience managing component design, engineering changes, APQP activities, and client design release processes while ensuring quality, feasibility, and timely delivery.
Rate Range: $40/Hour to $42/Hour; The rate may be negotiable based on experience, education, geographic location, and other factors.
Underbody Structure DRE Job Responsibilities include:
Own underbody structure components from concept through production, including front structure, dash cowl, floor panels, and reinforcements.
Develop and release sheet metal steel and aluminum structural components while ensuring compliance with engineering and manufacturing requirements.
Coordinate APQP activities with suppliers to confirm stamping and assembly feasibility and support new part sourcing initiatives.
Perform engineering analysis, calculations, and collaborate with CAE teams to validate structural performance and meet vehicle attribute targets.
Manage engineering changes through client release systems, maintaining accurate BOM data and supporting change control processes.
Lead design reviews, testing validation, and cross-functional discussions to ensure successful component launch and ongoing product development support.
Required Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, Automotive Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
2+ years of experience in Automotive Design & Release Engineering, Body Structures, or Sheet Metal Component Design.
Experience with underbody structure design and release, including steel and aluminum sheet metal components such as floor panels, dash cowl, front structures, and reinforcements.
Knowledge of Design & Release processes and experience using company systems such as FedeBOM, WERS, and change management tools preferred.
Strong understanding of APQP, supplier feasibility reviews, change control, and product development processes.

Pay Details: $40.00 to $42.00 per hour
