Outside Plant (Fiber) Underground Construction Operator Job DescriptionVisionary Broadband seeks a qualified individual to fulfill the role of Outside Plant (Fiber) Underground Construction Operator and lead Visionary's underground fiber optic construction team. This full-time, hourly position will join the Fiber team at Visionary Broadband, a division of Visionary Communications, Inc., one of the top service providers in the region. The position will be based out of Visionary offices in Colorado, with anticipated travel in the surrounding region.Job Overview:The Underground Construction Operator will work closely with Visionary's Engineering and Construction Management teams and travel throughout Visionary territories building and maintaining the underground fiber optic plant. This person will manage the trenching, boring, drop(s) and placing handholes.Visionary is a service provider in varied terrains and with many different types of plant including underground and aerial, as well as fiber to the premise. A successful candidate will have an adaptive and forward-thinking mindset, ability to provide critical in-field feedback, and communicate quickly when decisions must be made.Duties and Responsibilities:• Ability to work under Construction Manager's direction on construction practices and methods that ensure a safe and productive work environment• Ability to proficiently operate all requisite machinery safely to ensure the job is completed• Create daily production reports, material usage sheets, keep track of work hours, complete and maintain accurate "as-built" maps for areas built• In partnership with Visionary's fleet management team, ensure vehicle and machine maintenance is completedQualifications:A qualified candidate must possess the following skills, or have equivalent experience and/or qualifications:5 or more years of telecom underground construction experienceA valid driver's license with a clean driving recordGood communication skills, both verbal and writtenDetail orientedAbility to pass a drug test and background screenKnowledge of fiber mapping software a plusFlexibility to work outside of standard 8am-5pm hours and be willing to travel throughout a large service territory.Strong analytical and critical thinking skills with demonstrated problem solving abilitiesPhysical Requirements:90%+ / - of the time will be spent walking and standing in the field with various weather conditions.Visual and audio acuity is essential to this position.All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, religion, color, national origin, citizenship, sex, marital status, parental status, Pregnancy or maternity status, genetic information, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, transgender status or reassignment, veteran's status, political affiliation, age or disability.
