Underwriting Assistant IISalary Grade: 14SUMMARY:The Underwriting Assistant II performs a variety of loan processing duties to ensure loans are compliant and meet the standards and documentation required for delivery into the Bank's portfolio or appropriate secondary market investors. The Underwriting Assistant II coordinates communication between the MLO, customer and Underwriter to ensure the mortgage application process meets all expectations while preparing the application to be underwritten.ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES:Works independently to coordinate the timely processing of residential mortgage loan applications and ensures critical deadlines are metResponsible for processing a variety of loan products levels.Orders automated income/asset verification and automated underwriting servicesAnalyses necessary disclosures for compliance and reviews support documentation via appropriate checklistsOrders mortgage services through third party vendorsObtains missing documentation and completes the preliminary loan preparation for the Underwriter's reviewResponds to internal and external customers or vendor inquiries, within scope of authority and expertise via telephone and electronic communicationStays current on new developments within the residential lending field and attends relevant courses and seminarsEDUCATION & CERTIFICATIONS:Associates degree, or equivalent experience in lending or financial services with lending exposure.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:Minimum of one year of mortgage processing, loan operations, loan origination experience, or National Mortgage Licensing System (NMLS) registration.Proven track record of preparing accurate Initial Disclosure Packages preferredKnowledge of automated income/asset verification services and automated underwriting services preferredKnowledge of mortgage origination process and ability to communicate same to applicantsKnowledge of mortgage origination systemsStrong time management and organizational skillsAbility to work in a team environment under deadline pressureAbility to communicate in an effective and efficient manner both verbally and writtenProficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) products is requiredTech savvy with ability to learn various web based systemsCOMPETENCIES:Must have cyber security awareness to protect the digital environment, the Bank, and customers.Functional/Technical SkillsLearning on the FlyOrganizingProblem SolvingSelf-DevelopmentTime ManagementApproachabilityCustomer FocusEthics and ValuesHumorIntegrity and TrustPeer RelationshipsWritten CommunicationsEqual Opportunity Employer/Protected Veterans/Individuals with Disabilities This employer is required to notify all applicants of their rights pursuant to federal employment laws.
