5 West Unit at Butterworth Hospital5 West is a smaller unit comprised of 25 beds at Butterworth Hospital supporting our Emergency Department. 5W is a fast-paced unit caring for a wide range of patient population. This brings a lot of variety to the patients you will care for and provides the ability to strengthen your critical thinking skills and be part of a dynamic team providing excellent patient care to those needing further testing and observation of symptoms. Types of patients with: Chest Pain, Heart Failure, Kidney Stones, Psychiatric Diagnosis, GI, Orthopedic, and Neuro for both Acute and Chronic Illness Patients. Telemetry, IVs, NG/G-tubes, Chest Tubes, Dressing/Wound Care, CT & MRI Patients. 5W Physicians and Advance Practice Providers remain on the unit so there is 24-hour accessibility which improves relationships, care team collaboration, and efficiency of patient care.About Butterworth HospitalRight in the heart of Grand Rapids, you'll find a nationally recognized hospital for patient quality and safety and the regional leader in full-service hospitals. Greets and directs guests on the unit in a manner that reflects a welcoming environment.
