Job description
Unit TechnicianThe Unit Technician provides direct service to ensure safety and comfort for clients within our inpatient substance use disorders programs, as well as administrative tasks to ensure effective, therapeutic and compliant program operations.Essential Functions:Answer the phones and relay calls and messages to the appropriate personAssist with the admit and discharge of the people we serve including orientation of new admitsPerform the necessary physical plant maintenance which includes (but is not limited to) the cleaning of hallways, rooms, lounges, utility rooms, showers, bathrooms, and making of bedsAdminister medicationsComplete clinical documentation in the electronic health record (CREDIBLE)Complete admission / discharge DAANES data collection and data entryTransport the people we serve to and from activities, appointments, court appearances, etcFacilitate program activities and groups as assignedAssist the nurse in providing hygiene care for the people we serveWash clothes for the people we serve as neededPick up meals on weekends and when the kitchen is closed from Edgewood VistaMonitor clients and regularly walk through the unit; provide necessary direction or appropriate intervention to maintain a safe and compliant environmentAssist clients with homework as assigned by counseling staffPerform room searches and confiscate contraband or unapproved itemsAssist the Charge Nurse in performing drug screensSearch luggage, bags, clothing, and packages; document belongings; confiscate contraband and report it to the appropriate authorities if necessaryCheck in and monitor visitors; search visitor clothing and deny entry of inappropriate or unapproved itemsFollow the list of assigned job duties list for the shift being workedTake direction for assigned tasks from Charge Nurse and Supervisors.Attend staff meetings and trainings as assigned.Follow all regulatory and statutory guidelines and requirements, and all RMHC policies and proceduresOther duties as assignedRequired Skills/Abilities:Assertiveness is sufficient to complete positions essential functions.Ability to attend to non-verbal cuesAbility to organize and prioritize tasks with sufficient flexibility to meet demands in a fluid and changing environmentAbility to maintain confidentiality of interaction with the people we serve in the treatment setting and other relevant confidential informationAbility to handle sensitive situations in a calm, respectful mannerAbility to operate accurately a computer, keyboard, and mouseAbility to handle significant daily stressAbility to effectively both verbally and in writingAbility to read, write, and speak the English languageMinimum Qualifications:Must be at least 18 years of ageHigh School Diploma or equivalency preferredA philosophical approach consistent with Range Mental Health Center's missionPass a Department of Human Services background checkMeet minimum training requirements of training under the Minnesota Department of Human Services and the Minnesota Department of HealthOne year free from substance use problemsCPR / First Aid certification required; certification can be provided by RMHCCurrent Minnesota driver's licensePhysical Requirements:Ability to sit and stand for long periods of timeAbility to climb stairsAbility to operate a keyboard and mouseAbility to lift 50 poundsSufficient vision to utilize a computer monitor, to inspect and monitor the physical outlay or each program, to monitor client's behavior and / or body language, and to inspect luggage, clothing, or packagesSufficient hearing acuity to accurately record or respond to another party both in person, on the phone, and in a group settingMaintain an acceptable level of cleanliness and physical appearanceAbility to verbally communicate English in a manner that is sufficiently clear to be easily understoodMust be able to maintain a Minnesota driver's license and auto insuranceEOE/AA
