Unlocatable Utility TechnicianLocation: Saint Paul, MN, US, 55101 Castle Rock, MN, US, 55010 Rosemount, MN, US, 55068 South St. Paul, MN, US, 55075 Eagan, MN, US, 55121 Empire, MN, US, 55033 Hastings, MN, US, 55033 Apple Valley, MN, US, 55124 Bloomington, MN, US, 55420 Burnsville, MN, US, 55306 Woodbury, MN, US, 55125 Lakeland, MN, US, 55043 Afton, MN, US, 55001 Cottage Grove, MN, US, 55016Lake Superior Consulting is seeking multiple Unlocatable Utility Locating Technicians in the following locations: St. Paul, Cottage Grove, Hastings, Rosemount, Apple Valley, South St. Paul, Woodbury, Lakeland, Afton, Eagan, Castle Rock, Farmington, Empire, Burnsville, Bloomington and surrounding areas.Are you an outdoor enthusiast who thrives in challenging environments and enjoys independent fieldwork? This individual will be responsible for accurately locating and marking cables, pipes, and other conduits that carry utilities underground. The locators' efforts protect underground utilities from damage during projects that involve excavation. These are daytime, full-time positions where overtime is required. We work some weekends as needed and require you to be physically ready for extended hours in all weather conditions. LSC is a trusted name recognized for its strong commitment to quality and safety. If you're a problem solver and driven to succeed in a fast-paced, hands-on role, and ready to meet the physical demands of the job, LSC is the place for you!ResponsibilitiesRespond to locate requests within legal time limit – this includes routine and project locates as well as unlocatable requestsMark found utilities using proper coloring system (APWA marking standards)Read and interpret utility maps/prints to identify the size and type of underground utility.Utilize hand tools to dig and clear varieties of terrainFamiliarity with specialized equipment such as a hydrovac and air excavatorsTroubleshoot unlocatable buried facilitiesWork with third party contractors to find buried linesComplete required paperwork for locates and line crossings/excavationsWork safely by adhering to LSC and client guidelines and proceduresFollow all required guidelines to perform on-site Watch and Protect assistanceCommunicate work scopes and responsibilities amongst project specific field-based teamsComplete and maintain operator qualifications (OQs)Operate and use electronic locating equipmentGather data, prepare records and reports in a timely mannerPerform daily safety meetings and submit daily report documentationsGenerate and gather equipment for kickoffs of projectsEnsure your work is utilized with respect to company goalsDocument and report any incidents, near misses, and opportunities for improvementWork in compliance with all technical procedures and guidelinesProperly document work done to show measurements for future usePosition RequirementsDue to our driver policy, must be 21 years of age or older High School Diploma 1-2 years of utility locating experience preferred Valid Driver's License required Ability to travel and work in an outdoor environment Capability to operate a company vehicle and use general hand/power tools Must have strong critical thinking, problem solving, and troubleshooting abilities Commitment to working safely and producing high quality, ethical service Good organizational skills and detail oriented Highly motivated and thrives in a dynamic, team-based and individual environment Professional verbal and written communication skills. Comfortable with utilizing a laptop, Microsoft Office programs, and cell phone Availability to participate in on-call rotationPhysical Requirements and DemandsAbility to work in a physically demanding outdoor environment, as required Ability to perform strenuous tasks such as hand digging, for extended periods of time Ability to traverse rugged terrain, excavations and work around pipe and equipment, as required Must be able to travel to offsite locations for extended periods of time Frequent periods of standing for long periods Occasional lifting of up to 50 lb. The actual starting salary will be determined based on a variety of factors, including your skills, experience, and office/market location.
