Kenworth Truck Company has an immediate opening for an Uptime Engineering Product Engineer to join our team in Kirkland, WA .

Position Summary

The Uptime Engineering Product Engineer works with Kenworth, Peterbilt, PACCAR Global Engine, and PACCAR Electronics teams to lead dash lamp reduction and uptime improvement activities. This role coordinates with groups across multiple PACCAR locations. The team's primary goal is to reduce the number of issues that lead to truck downtime. Activities involve discovering and defining issues, applying known solutions to top customers and driving solution execution. This position collaborates with an international, cross-functional team from manufacturing, service, product development, information technology, suppliers, and product validation.

Job Functions & Responsibilities

All aspects of diagnostic dash lamp reduction and vehicle uptime improvements will be managed by bringing solutions to our customers.

Activities include data analysis, identifying issues, planning workload, reporting and tracking progress, as well as constructing new and novel parameters to track vehicle operating scenarios.

This position will analyze large datasets, including telematics data from our vehicles to understand emerging issues and develop plans to reduce vehicle down time.

This position will work closely with the Kenworth and Peterbilt warranty and field services teams to gather input and lead containment (such as field campaigns) and permanent corrective efforts to minimize unscheduled downtime.

Up to 10% travel (domestic & international).

Qualifications & Skills

1-3 years of automotive electrical, electronic, and software design experience desired, preferably within PACCAR.

B.S. in mechanical, electrical, mechatronics, or computer engineering, computer science or data science required; Master's degree and/or P.E. license preferred.

Must demonstrate an ability to perform in a fast-paced, results-oriented environment, manage multiple simultaneous projects, and respond dynamically to shifting priorities.

Experience working with large data sets employing Tableau or Snowflake is a plus.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Automotive or Commercial vehicle background including J1939 CAN protocol, and vehicle controls design or test desired.

Preference will be given to candidates with software design and release, multiplexed communications, diagnostics, powertrain, and/or other embedded systems experience.

Understanding of manufacturing and dealer service environments is a plus.
