nnPosition Overview

nCentral Maine Healthcare is seeking a Full-Time Urology APP to join it's growing team of 3 Urologists and 2 APPs. The Urology APP provides comprehensive care to patients with acute and chronic urological conditions in collaboration with urologists and multidisciplinary healthcare teams. The APP evaluates, diagnoses, treats, and manages patients in an outpatient setting. Opportunity for 1st Assist in OR is available if desired. Inpatient rounding is not required but opportunity is available if desired.

nnAbout Us

nCentral Maine Healthcare (CMH), a member of Prime Healthcare Foundation, is an integrated healthcare delivery system serving approximately 400,000 residents across central, western, and midcoast Maine through a network of more than 40 primary and specialty care locations. The system includes Central Maine Medical Center  (CMMC) in Lewiston, a 250-bed, not-for-profit regional referral hospital that is home to the region's only Cancer Care Center, an orthopedic ambulatory surgery center, and the Central Maine Heart and Vascular Institute. CMMC also serves as the central Maine base for LifeFlight of Maine, the state's only medical helicopter service.

nnCMH also includes Bridgton Hospital and Rumford Hospital, two 25-bed critical access hospitals that provide essential care to Maine's rural communities.

nnAs part of its commitment to healthcare education and workforce development, CMH is home to the Maine College of Health Professions, Maine's first nursing and medical imaging school. nResponsibilities

nClinical Care

n Conduct comprehensive patient assessments, including medical histories and physical examinations.

Diagnose and manage common urological conditions such as:n Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia (BPH)

Kidney stones

Urinary tract infections (UTIs)

Overactive bladder and urinary incontinence

Erectile dysfunction

Hematuria

Prostate, kidney, and bladder cancer follow-up

Order, interpret, and communicate diagnostic tests including laboratory studies, imaging, and urodynamic testing.

Develop and implement individualized treatment plans.

Prescribe medications and therapies in accordance with state regulations and organizational policies.

n nProcedural Responsibilities

n Perform office-based procedures as permitted by training and credentialing, including:

Catheter insertion and management

Voiding trials

Bladder scans

Bladder instillations

Post-operative care and wound management

n nPatient Education

n Educate patients and families regarding diagnoses, treatment options, medications, lifestyle modifications, and preventive care.

Provide counseling regarding surgical procedures and post-operative expectations.

Promote adherence to treatment plans and follow-up care.

n nCollaboration & Coordination

n Collaborate closely with urologists, nurses, medical assistants, and other healthcare professionals.

Coordinate referrals, consultations, and continuity of care.

Participate in multidisciplinary case reviews and quality improvement initiatives.

n nDocumentation & Compliance

n Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record (EMR).

Ensure compliance with organizational policies, regulatory requirements, and quality standards.

Participate in clinical audits and quality assurance activities.

n nQualifications

n ANCC, AANPCB, or NCCPA board certification

Current state license as an Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant

BLS upon hire

DEA license

Prior experience in urology, surgery, oncology, or primary care preferred but not mandatory

Previous experience with electronic health record

nPay Transparency

nCentral Maine Medical Center offers competitive compensation and a reasonable compensation estimate for this role is $124,000 to $131,000. The exact starting compensation to be offered will be determined at the time of selecting an applicant for hire, in which a wide range of factors will be considered, including but not limited to, skillset, years of applicable experience, education, credentials and licensure.
