Our compassion, integrity, accountability, and resilience define us as leaders in pediatric specialty care for our children and their families.With 20+ hospitals, outpatient clinics, ambulatory care centers and outreach locations across the globe, we provide excellent care to children up to age 18 regardless of their family's ability to pay or insurance status.Shriners Portland is looking for a full time Cast Tech to join the team!Provides assistance to the medical staff in the application, maintenance and removal of casts, traction and other splint or motion device as ordered. Informs patients/families, staff and students about the use and care of casts and traction devices.Key Responsibilities:Performs direct and indirect patient care activities within the scope of practice of an Orthopedic Technician and the Outpatient Clinic (OPC) standards of care.Performs casting and traction services under the direction and supervision of an Attending Orthopedic SurgeonDemonstrates open, accurate and timely communication with patients/families and interdisciplinary team members to ensure effective therapeutic intervention. Maintains competency, adheres to standards of practice, recognizes own learning needs to maximize professional development and optimal patient carePrepares patient for application of orthopedic devices, removes plaster/fiberglass as ordered by the physician.Demonstrates competency in the application, removal, maintenance, modifications of cast, splints and traction.Required Qualifications:High School Diploma/GEDOrthopedic Cast Technician ProgramBasic Life Support (BLS)Preferred Qualifications:Certificate Medical Assistant1 year Orthopedic Technician1 year related work experienceCompensation is determined based on years of relevant experience and departmental equity.
