nYour role and responsibilities

nAs a User Experience Design Intern you will:

nnCollaborate with designers on user experience projects from concept through implementation

nCreate wireframes, mockups, user flows, and prototypes to communicate design ideas

nAssist with user research activities, including interviews, usability testing, and synthesis of findings

nParticipate in brainstorming and design workshops

nLearn and apply design thinking and user-centered design methodologies

nExplore how AI-powered technologies can be incorporated into product experiences

nUse AI tools such as IBM Bob, Claude, Copilot, or similar technologies to support ideation, content creation, and prototyping

nContribute to design system and accessibility efforts

nPresent work to peers and stakeholders and incorporate feedback into design iterations

nWork closely with product managers, developers, and other designers in a collaborative team environment

n nRequired education

nHigh School Diploma/GED

nPreferred education

nBachelor's Degree

nRequired technical and professional expertise

nnCurrently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in User Experience Design, Human-Computer Interaction, Product Design, Graphic Design, Psychology, Computer Science, Information Science, or a related field

nInterest in UX design and creating user-centered digital experiences

nPortfolio showcasing coursework, personal projects, internships, hackathons, or other design work

nFamiliarity with design tools such as Figma, Adobe Creative Suite, Sketch, or similar tools

nStrong visual, communication, and problem-solving skills

nAbility to learn quickly and adapt in a fast-paced environment

nInterest in emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence and generative AI

nAbility to work onsite in Austin 3 days per week

n nPreferred technical and professional experience

nnExperience through coursework, internships, student organizations, hackathons, or personal projects

nFamiliarity with user research methods and usability principles

nUnderstanding of accessibility and inclusive design concepts

nExposure to prototyping tools and techniques

nExperience working collaboratively in team environments

nCuriosity about AI-powered products, conversational interfaces, or intelligent systems

nInterest in enterprise software and complex problem-solving

nGrowth mindset and enthusiasm for learning from feedback

nOTHER RELEVANT JOB DETAILS

nSupplemental 1 employees may be eligible for up to 8 paid holidays, minimum of 56 hours paid sick time and the IBM Employee Stock Purchase Plan. IBM offers paid family medical leave and disability benefits to eligible employees where required by applicable law. nThe compensation range and benefits for this position are based on a full-time schedule for a full calendar year. The salary will vary depending on your job-related skills, experience and location. Pay increment and frequency of pay will be in accordance with employment classification and applicable laws. For part time roles, your compensation and benefits will be adjusted to reflect your hours. Benefits may be pro-rated for those who start working during the calendar year.
