Utility WorkerTo maintain a clean and safe working environment where teacher can teach and student can learn.High school diploma or GED certificateValid Texas driver's licenseMust be eligible to drive based on the Texas DPS School Transportation GuidelinesAbility to read, understand and follow oral and written instructions and the ability to communicate effectivelyDemonstrated competency in building custodial maintenance and personnelAbility to operate cleaning equipment and properly handle cleaning suppliesTwo (2) years experience in the custodial fieldSubstitute for the head custodian, lead custodian, or custodial helpers as assigned by the Supervisor of Custodial ServicesOversee the opening, closing, and securing of all buildings maintained; operate climate control equipment to sustain the proper temperature in all parts of the buildingInsure that proper supplies are on hand and maintain inventoryProvide instruction and training in the proper operation and maintenance of custodial equipment in adherence to District guidelines for cleanliness, sanitation, and safetyInspect the building daily and make needed repairs that are their responsibility; report other needed repairs according to established proceduresRender special services for students, staff, and patrons at the direction of the principal or Supervisor of Custodial ServicesDemonstrate ability to work with others in a positive productive manner and perform such other tasks as may be assignedInspect and maintain fire extinguishers in buildings on a regularly scheduled basisPerform other duties as assignedSupervisory Responsibilities: NoneAll custodial equipment including but not limited to buffers, vacuum cleaners, carpet extractorsTobacco Free, Gun Free, Drug Free. Must be willing to work flexible hoursMaintain emotional control under stress. Typical school atmosphere. Frequent interruptions. Strenuous standing, stooping, walking, climbing ladders, bending, pushing and pulling, must be physically fit and able to lift and carry items weighing up to 75 pounds. Working indoors, outdoors, in extreme temperatures including hot and cold temperature swings, inclement weather, around and exposed to dust, chemicals (herbicides and fertilizer), loud noises, and working on slippery or uneven walking surfaces.
