Advancing inclusive communities where every person, regardless of circumstances, has the right and opportunity to live their best life is our mission, and our mission is what drives us and is at the heart of our services and programs.What are we looking for?We are looking for a DSP (Direct Support Professional) who provides support to persons with disabilities in developing and/or maintaining skills to enhance the quality of their lives in the community; observe and respond to the physical, social, behavioral, career and personal needs of persons served; advocates for the needs of persons served and serves as a link to community inclusion; assists with daily routines (i.e. household tasks, employment related task, personal careYour overall essential responsibilities will be the following:Provide appropriate level of supervision and training to persons served through services to include residential, day, respite, community, and employment services to facilitate their social wellbeing, health and safety in the least restrictive environment.Will: administer medication to persons served; per medication administration procedures upon successful state required certifications.Assist persons served to take public transportation or ensures Transport to to access community resources. Apply today on our company website SJCS Careers to be considered.QualificationsYou will catch our eye if you have the following knowledge, skills, and abilities:High school diploma or G.E.D. required for DC and preferred but not required for VA.One or more years related experience working with persons with disabilities required; experience in community based programs preferred;Must meet SJCS and funding jurisdiction current requirements for criminal background/records check.Valid health certificate to meet current funding jurisdiction requirements;Valid state-issued driver's license with current driving record in good standing preferred.Physical and environmental conditions include:Work may require lifting heavy objects a minimum of 30 pounds. Work environment involves risks or discomforts that require special safety precautions e.g. Safely operating a motor vehicle; lifting, transferring and/or positioning persons served; exposure to aggressive behavior; practices with office equipment; and/or avoidance of trips and falls.All SJCS employees must:Obtain a valid health certificate to meet SJCS or current funding authority requirements as required. Meet SJCS and the funding authority requirement of criminal background and record checks.
