Job description

Medical Director in Brewer, ME

Brewer Veterinary Clinic is looking for an experienced and collaborative Medical Director to help lead our team and shape the next chapter of our practice.

Are you an experienced veterinarian who loves practicing medicine but is also ready to have a greater voice in how a hospital grows, develops its team, and delivers exceptional patient care? This is an opportunity to combine the medicine you love with meaningful leadership—while having the support and resources to do both well.

Our established three-doctor small animal practice in Brewer, Maine, is growing, and we’re looking for a Medical Director who can bring clinical experience, mentorship, and fresh ideas to an already talented team.

Brewer Veterinary Clinic is an AAHA-accredited, high-volume small animal practice with a loyal client base and a team committed to providing compassionate, high-quality medicine. Our state-of-the-art facility includes digital radiography, ultrasound, endoscopy, IDEXX diagnostic equipment, and an impressive surgical suite—giving our doctors the tools and resources to practice the level of medicine they’re proud of.

As Medical Director, you’ll have the opportunity to make a meaningful impact without having to do it alone. You’ll partner closely with the Hospital Manager, Regional Operations Manager, and Rarebreed support teams while helping guide medical standards, mentor fellow veterinarians, strengthen hospital culture, and identify opportunities for continued growth.

This is a hands‑on clinical leadership role, so you’ll still have the opportunity to see patients, build client relationships, and practice medicine while helping shape the clinical direction of the hospital.

Most importantly, we believe great medicine starts with a great team. Our doctors and staff work collaboratively, support one another, and bring a balance of professionalism and fun to each day. We’re busy, established, and continuing to grow—with a client community that values the care we provide.

Learn more about Brewer Veterinary Clinic:

Brewer also offers something increasingly valuable in veterinary medicine: the opportunity to build a rewarding career while enjoying an incredible quality of life outside of work.

Located near the Maine coast, Acadia National Park, the Appalachian Trail, and Baxter State Park , Brewer puts some of New England’s best outdoor recreation within easy reach. Hiking, kayaking, skiing, camping, and exploring the Maine coast can all be part of your life here.

Nearby Bangor offers the convenience of a larger community, including an international airport just minutes away, along with a vibrant historic downtown, local breweries, shops, restaurants, live music, and arts.

If you’re ready for your next professional chapter—one where you can lead, mentor, practice excellent medicine, and have a genuine voice in the future of a hospital we’d love to meet you.
