Veterinary Medical Director (DVM) – Wakefield, RI
A veterinary hospital is seeking a Medical Director (DVM) to lead its small animal practice. This is an exciting opportunity for a veterinarian who is passionate about leadership, high-quality medicine, and building strong relationships with both clients and team members.This role offers a combination of clinical practice and leadership responsibilities, allowing you to shape medical standards, mentor a team, and drive overall hospital success.
About the Role
Provide medical, surgical, and preventive care for small animal patients
Lead and mentor a team of veterinarians and support staff
Establish and maintain clinical protocols and standards of care
Collaborate with leadership on hospital operations and growth initiatives
Foster a positive, collaborative, and mentorship-driven culture
Practice with autonomy while supported by strong operational resources
Responsibilities
Perform diagnostics, treatment planning, and surgical procedures
Oversee quality of care and patient outcomes
Support team development, training, and performance
Ensure compliance with veterinary regulations and best practices
Maintain accurate medical records and clinical documentation
Build strong client relationships through clear communication and education
Qualifications
Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM/VMD) degree from an accredited institution
Active or eligible veterinary license
Strong clinical and diagnostic skills
Leadership experience or interest in a leadership role
Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
Commitment to high-quality, patient-centered care
