Job description

Veterinary ReceptionistArizona Canine Orthopedics & Sports Medicine seeking a dedicated and client-focused Veterinary Receptionist to join our team. This position is open to candidates who bring strong transferable experience from adjacent fields, including human medical or dental offices, urgent care clinics, emergency services, or high-volume hospitality and customer service environments.We are looking for a professional who demonstrates composure under pressure, a genuine affinity for animals, and the interpersonal skills to support clients across a wide range of experiences — including those that are emotionally demanding. Monday–Friday, with shifts between 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m and Saturdays from 8:00 a.m - 2:00 p.m. The schedule may consist of either five 8-hour shifts or four 10-hour shifts. Saturdays required.ResponsibilitiesGreet and check in clients and patients at the front desk, collect intake information, and confirm appointment details in a professional and welcoming mannerAnswer and manage a multi-line telephone system, directing calls and responding to inquiries regarding scheduling, services, and general informationPerform client check-out, including payment processing, posting charges, and scheduling future appointmentsProvide composed and compassionate customer service to clients experiencing anxiety, distress, or difficult news regarding their pet's healthPerform accurate data entry and maintain organized records in the practice management system following onboarding and trainingCommunicate effectively with clinical staff to relay messages, flag urgent situations, and support efficient daily operationsMaintain a clean, organized, and welcoming reception and waiting areaQualificationsMinimum 1 year of experience in a front desk, receptionist, or customer service role in a medical, dental, urgent care, veterinary, or high-volume service environmentProven customer service skills with strong verbal and written communication, including active listening and conflict resolutionExperience with appointment scheduling, multi-line phone systems, data entry, and payment processing or point-of-sale (POS)Strong organizational skills and attention to detail; ability to multitask effectively in a fast-paced environmentProficient in Microsoft Office; comfortable learning new software and workflowsReliable, punctual, and professional; ability to work independently and as part of a teamGenuine affinity for animals and comfort working in a clinical settingExperience in a veterinary clinic, animal care facility, or medical office; familiarity with veterinary or medical terminology; or PIMS software experience (Cornerstone, Avimark, ImproMed, eVetPractice, or ezyVet) is considered a strong asset.About Arizona Canine Orthopedics & Sports MedicineArizona Canine Orthopedics & Sports Medicine is not a typical veterinary practice—it's a focused, high-level orthopedic surgery and sports medicine center dedicated to helping dogs regain mobility and quality of life. While our work centers on advanced surgery, the experience begins the moment a client walks through the door or calls the practice—and that's where our front desk team plays a critical role.This position is far more than answering phones and scheduling appointments. Our client care team serves as the first impression of the hospital and the guide for clients navigating what is often a stressful and emotional situation for their pet. The right person understands that empathy, organization, and clear communication can make a huge difference for families who are trusting us with their dog's care.
