**POSITION SUMMARY:** The Vice President, Back-End Engineer plays a pivotal role in the Back-End Development job family, primarily focusing on building, enhancing, and maintaining the server-side logic of software applications. This position is critical in ensuring that BNY's digital platforms are robust, scalable, and aligned with the company's strategic pillars of innovation and operational excellence. The role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams to integrate data storage solutions and optimize application performance. This position supports BNY's principles by fostering a culture of collaboration, integrity, and accountability, ensuring that our technological solutions meet the highest standards of quality and client satisfaction. **PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:** - Lead the design and implementation of server-side architecture by leveraging expertise in software engineering principles and best practices. - Collaborate with front-end developers and other stakeholders to integrate user-facing elements with server-side logic, ensuring seamless and efficient system interactions. - Optimize applications for maximum speed and scalability by conducting thorough performance testing and deploying necessary updates. - Ensure the security and data protection of applications by implementing robust authentication and authorization solutions. - Maintain and enhance database schemas and queries to support application functionalities and improve data retrieval efficiency. - Provide technical mentorship and guidance to junior engineers, fostering an environment of continuous learning and professional development. **EDUCATION/QUALIFICATIONS:** - Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field. **EXPERIENCE:** - Typically 5-9 years of experience. **SKILLS:** - Proficient in back-end programming languages and frameworks, such as Java, Python, or Node.js. - Strong understanding of database management and data storage solutions. - Excellent problem-solving skills with a focus on delivering high-quality software solutions.
