Job description

A leading U.S. G-SIB is looking to hire a Vice President within its Liquidity Strategy & Risk team in New York. This is a highly visible role focused on the strategic assessment of the firm’s liquidity and funding profile, providing independent analysis and challenge around balance-sheet positioning, funding strategy, liquidity stress testing, and risk appetite.

The VP will work closely with senior stakeholders across Treasury, Finance, Risk, and the businesses, helping assess how changes in the balance sheet, funding markets, business activity, and the regulatory environment impact the firm’s liquidity position and strategic funding decisions.

This role offers significantly broader exposure than a traditional liquidity-monitoring position. The successful candidate will operate at the intersection of liquidity risk, Treasury strategy, and balance-sheet management, helping senior leadership understand the firm's evolving liquidity profile and make informed funding and capital-allocation decisions.

The position should appeal to someone who combines a strong technical understanding of liquidity with a more commercial, strategic, and forward-looking mindset.

Key Responsibilities

Assess the firm’s liquidity and funding strategy, identifying emerging risks, vulnerabilities, and opportunities to strengthen balance-sheet resilience.

Analyze liquidity positions, funding concentrations, liquidity headroom, and key balance-sheet drivers across normal and stressed environments.

Provide strategic challenge to Treasury around funding plans, liquidity positioning, asset-liability management, and contingency funding strategies.

Review and challenge Internal Liquidity Stress Testing (ILST) methodologies, assumptions, scenarios, and results.

Evaluate the impact of business growth, market conditions, secured and unsecured funding activity, and balance-sheet changes on liquidity risk.

Support the development of liquidity risk appetite, limits, forecasting, and scenario analysis.

Produce clear, forward-looking analysis for senior management and governance committees, translating complex liquidity issues into actionable strategic insights.

Partner across Treasury, Finance, Risk, and front-office businesses on strategic liquidity and balance-sheet initiatives.

Support regulatory examinations and senior-level discussions relating to liquidity, funding, and stress testing.

Candidate Profile

The successful candidate will ideally bring:

Experience in liquidity strategy, liquidity risk, Treasury, funding, balance-sheet management, or broader financial risk management within a large financial institution.

Strong understanding of bank funding and liquidity dynamics, including the interaction between balance-sheet strategy, liquidity buffers, funding markets, and stress testing.

Experience with liquidity stress testing, risk appetite, liquidity limits, or strategic funding analysis.

Strong analytical capabilities and the ability to identify the key commercial and risk implications within complex datasets.

Ability to provide credible challenge and communicate effectively with senior stakeholders across Treasury, Risk, Finance, and the businesses.

Strong written and presentation skills, particularly around senior management and governance materials.

Exposure to any of the following would be highly valued:

Secured funding, prime brokerage, securities financing, or trading-book liquidity

LCR, NSFR, Regulation YY, FR 2052a/6G, and ILST

Contingency funding planning and liquidity stress scenarios

Balance-sheet optimization and funding strategy

Liquidity forecasting and scenario analysis
