Job description

ABOUT HFNY

For over 30 years, Hope For New York (HFNY) has served as New York’s Coalition of Hope, bringing nonprofits, churches, workplaces and everyday New Yorkers together to show kindness and compassion to their neighbors in need. Our Coalition of Hope strengthens nonprofits, leaders, and communities on the frontlines with resources and connections that shatter scarcity and amplify impact.

HFNY invests in a diverse array of community-based nonprofits by providing grants, training, hands‑on support, and volunteers to nearly 80 vetted, faith-based nonprofits across the five boroughs — building up their capacity to lead with excellence and serve more New Yorkers in need. We offer hundreds of volunteer opportunities for individuals, workplaces, and churches — working closely with our nonprofit partners to ensure New Yorkers not only bring hope to their neighbors in need, but tangibly experience it too.

ABOUT THE ROLE

The Mobilization Team at HFNY is committed to mobilizing volunteers, donors and churches to give and serve generously towards our HFNY non profit partners in order to further strengthen their work in our city. Our goal is to identify, cultivate and retain volunteer, donor and institutional relationships (churches, foundations and corporations). We primarily do this work through individual and institutional relationships.

HFNY is in a pivotal time of significant growth and seeks a self‑motivated, results‑oriented, strategic, and highly relational individual to lead the Mobilization Team. The VP, Mobilization and Generosity will 1) spearhead all generosity activities, setting HFNY’s strategy to increase annual revenue and stakeholder engagement by 50% over the next two years, 2) develop and strengthen relationships with institutional partners (church partners, foundations, and corporations), 3) develop volunteer mobilization strategies and campaigns, and 4) provide leadership to the rest of the staff and board with the vision and resources needed to achieve goals. The VP is part of the HFNY Leadership Team and will help inform the overall strategic direction of the organization.

OUR CORE VALUES

We are motivated by our Christian faith: Our desire to serve the city and seek the flourishing of every New Yorker is based on the Christian call to love and provide for our neighbors in need.

We love our city: New York City is one of the most diverse and vibrant cities in the world, yet it is also full of brokenness, injustice, and inequality. Our work is motivated by our desire to see our city renewed and restored.

We care about the whole person: We believe that true flourishing can only happen when an individual's spiritual, social, and economic needs are met, and we work with partners who seek the same outcome.

We can't do this work alone: Fostering community and collaboration are at the heart of everything we do because we know that we are more effective when we work together. Our role is to catalyze the success of all of our partners.

We build relationships based on trust: Trust is essential to creating authentic, thriving, and lasting relationships, which empowers our partners to achieve their goals.

We are innovative and data-driven: Solving hard problems often requires taking risks and trying new things. We use data to measure outcomes and inform decisions, which is critical to maximizing impact.
