Job description
We are seeking a Senior Director / Vice President, Business Development to help drive strategic growth across the power and energy sector.
This role will lead and support investment opportunities throughout the transaction lifecycle—from origination and evaluation through negotiation, execution, and integration .
The ideal candidate will bring strong commercial judgment, transaction experience, and a solid understanding of wholesale power markets, generation technologies, project development, M&A, project finance, and commercial contracting.
Identify, evaluate, negotiate, and execute acquisitions, divestitures, joint ventures, strategic partnerships, and development opportunities .
Develop financial and commercial business cases and investment recommendations for executive leadership, investment committees, and boards.
Lead or support transaction structuring, negotiations, due diligence, and execution.
Build and maintain relationships with developers, utilities, IPPs, financial institutions, strategic partners, advisors, and other industry participants.
Coordinate commercial, financial, technical, legal, regulatory, environmental, tax, and operational due diligence.
Monitor wholesale power markets, industry trends, regulatory developments, and emerging technologies to identify opportunities and risks.
Support the integration and transition of acquired or developed assets.
Provide commercial and financial support for existing assets, including performance evaluation, strategic initiatives, and contract matters.
Represent the organization in negotiations, industry meetings, conferences, and stakeholder engagements.
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Engineering, Economics, or a related field .
MBA or other advanced degree preferred.
Demonstrated experience in business development, M&A, project development, investment evaluation, or transaction execution within the power and energy industry.
Strong understanding of wholesale power markets, generation technologies, project finance, and commercial agreements.
Excellent financial, analytical, negotiation, communication, and relationship-management skills.
Experience with asset management or commercial/financial oversight of operating power assets is a plus.
Willingness to travel overnight as needed.
