In this role, you will work closely with the CEO, Board of Directors, Life Trustees, Development Committee, ad hoc committees, and the development team to strengthen and expand the organization’s overall fundraising capacity during a pivotal period of growth in the Center’s 30-year history.

This position plays a key role in ensuring that fundraising initiatives continue to evolve in support of the Center’s mission and the needs of Palm Beach County’s increasingly diverse and expanding community. The Vice President of Development will actively solicit donations while cultivating and growing a strong donor pipeline at all stages. In collaboration with the Senior Leadership team, this role will help implement and sustain the Center’s mission, vision, and strategic plan, ensuring alignment across all development efforts and long-term organizational success .

Plan, direct and implement a comprehensive fundraising strategy that achieves specific fundraising targets – including (but not limited to) the Annual Campaign and special project funding – by securing contributions from individuals, corporations, foundations, and through special events.

Identify, cultivate, and solicit donor prospects, building the pipeline of donors for the present and the future, including expanding and diversifying the donor base and leveraging relationships with existing donors, Board members, and other key stakeholders in order to achieve annual fundraising goal.

Cultivate the growth of the Center’s Endowment Fund, with special focus on gifts that ensure the Center’s long-term financial stability.

Support and promote the Center’s arts education and community outreach programs.

Ensure policies and procedures related to gift solicitation, gift receipt, gift acknowledgement, financial reporting and donor recognition standards are maintained.

Represent the Development department at all Board and committee meetings.

Oversee special events for donors and prospects that effectively communicate and promote the mission of the Center.

Work with the team to secure new avenues of funding – including targeting corporate and non-profit foundations for grant opportunities by participating in the grant writing process.

Manage all aspects of potential Capital Campaigns including identifying potential donors and name recognition opportunities, delegating assignments to appropriate team members as needed.

Lead, develop and mentor a strong, cohesive, accountable goal-oriented team, as well as identifying and utilizing independent consultants as required.

Strategically maintain a culture of outstanding stewardship to ensure excellent donor retention rates, following best fundraising practices.

Collaborate with marketing, public relations, and outside vendors for messaging, publicity, and outreach needs.

Be a visible presence and external face of the Center in the community by participating in gatherings and activities, as well as entertaining and welcoming guests at performances and hosting donor events.

Qualifications/Experience:

Extensive background in development with a proven-track record in fundraising for a minimum of ten years, including securing major gifts ($100,000 and above).

Experience working and partnering with Board of Directors to achieve goals and outcomes.

Extensive experience engaging and communicating daily with high-net worth individuals.

Outstanding communication skills, both written and spoken, are essential as well as tact and diplomacy.

A passionate leader that is collaborative and knows how to build consensus.

Must take initiative, exercise outstanding judgment, and manage multiple tasks and projects at the same time.

Must be very flexible with schedule, including willingness to work weekends and evenings as required.

The ideal candidate holds a Bachelor’s degree; a Master’s degree is preferred, along with a love of the performing arts and arts education.

Experience with Tessitura is a plus.

Physical Demands/Work Environment:

This position is a full-time, in-office role that requires the ability to work extended hours as needed, including evenings, and weekends, in support of fundraising initiatives and special events.
