Location

The Vice President of Manufacturing is based onsite at PermaTherm’s manufacturing plant in Monticello, Georgia, with daily presence required. PermaTherm’s headquarters and pipe fabrication facility are in nearby Covington, Georgia.

Client Overview

For over 30 years, family-owned PermaTherm has evolved as a leading manufacturer of insulated metal panels (IMPs), always maintaining a customer- and culture-centric approach. This focus has driven PermaTherm’s growth and positioned the company for rapid expansion in the design and manufacturing of IMPs. They proudly serve a diverse range of industries, including food production, cold storage, agricultural production, and storage facilities, as well as commercial and industrial applications. With a foundation built on a strong work ethic, integrity, and an unwavering commitment to excellence, PermaTherm consistently delivers high-quality products and exceptional customer service to clients in controlled environment facilities across the United States. This dedication to customer satisfaction has solidified PermaTherm’s reputation as trusted experts in the field.

In 2024, PermaTherm launched an expanded product line incorporating the most advanced panel machine technology in the country. This investment has unlocked significant growth opportunities, strengthened PermaTherm’s competitive differentiation, and laid the foundation for a multi-year expansion trajectory.

PermaTherm’s manufacturing plant is the heart of the company, where its core values—Community, Hard Work, Lifelong Learning, Doing the Right Thing, and Having Fun—are fully embraced. With a highly tenured and dedicated workforce, PermaTherm is entering a pivotal phase of growth that requires strong, hands-on manufacturing leadership to scale operations while preserving its deeply rooted culture.

Position Impact

The Vice President of Manufacturing is a key driver in converting growing customer demand into reliable, efficient, and profitable production—while maintaining PermaTherm’s high standards of quality and customer satisfaction.

As production volumes increase significantly in the coming years, this leader will shape capacity expansion, workforce planning, cost discipline, and continuous improvement initiatives. Working in close partnership with the COO, CFO, and commercial leadership, the VP of Manufacturing will ensure manufacturing capabilities remain tightly aligned with sales demand, customer commitments, and PermaTherm’s long-term strategic objectives.

Functions and Responsibilities

The Vice President of Manufacturing will hold a critical leadership role within PermaTherm, overseeing all aspects of manufacturing operations and plant performance while upholding the company’s core values.

Key responsibilities include:

Provide full leadership and oversight of manufacturing operations, including panel production, trim production, foam production, yard operations, and future production expansions

Drive operational excellence through the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of scalable manufacturing processes and systems

Lead capacity planning, workforce planning, and shift optimization to support rapid growth and evolving demand

Partner closely with Sales and Customer Fulfillment to ensure on-time delivery, quality execution, and exceptional customer experience

Implement lean manufacturing principles to improve efficiency, reduce waste, control costs, and improve margins

Develop and mentor plant leadership and frontline supervisors, fostering a culture of accountability, ownership, and continuous improvement

Serve as a visible, hands-on leader on the production floor, building trust and influence through engagement rather than command-and-control leadership

Collaborate with Finance and Supply Chain to improve purchasing integration, inventory management, and cost forecasting

Support capital investment decisions related to equipment, automation, and facility expansion

Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory requirements while maintaining a safe and positive work environment

Professional Qualifications

The ideal candidate will bring 10+ years of progressive manufacturing leadership experience within a true manufacturing environment, ideally characterized by automation, machinery-driven production, and operational complexity. Experience scaling operations in a high-growth setting is strongly preferred.

This role requires a proven manufacturing leader who has held senior plant or operations responsibility with full P&L ownership. Successful candidates will understand the demands of expanding production capacity, building and developing high-performing teams, and introducing operational rigor—including lean manufacturing and continuous improvement practices—without disrupting a strong, values-driven culture. Experience in building materials, metal fabrication, structural steel, advanced manufacturing, or adjacent industrial environments is highly relevant, though direct industry experience is not required.

The successful candidate will demonstrate strong operational acumen, sound judgment, and the ability to make data-driven decisions while remaining adaptable, hands-on, and entrepreneurial.

Personal Qualifications

We are seeking a leader who is deeply aligned with PermaTherm’s values and culture. The VP of Manufacturing must lead through influence, presence, and trust—earning credibility by working alongside the team and recognizing the expertise of those closest to the work.

The ideal candidate will be a natural leader with strong executive presence, capable of inspiring confidence and accountability across the plant. This individual will value people development, encourage innovation, and create an environment where continuous learning and improvement are embraced.

The candidate’s personal characteristics should also include:

Be a leader worth following by demonstrating integrity, humility, and respect

Strong communicator with the ability to influence and collaborate across functions

Hands-on, floor-oriented leadership style with a genuine appreciation for frontline employees

Entrepreneurial mindset with comfort navigating ambiguity and rapid change

High energy, resilience, and a positive, solutions-oriented outlook

Courage to challenge the status quo constructively while honoring PermaTherm’s values

Education Requirements

Bachelor’s degree required; engineering, operations, or business-related disciplines preferred

Travel

Minimal travel (less than 10%)

Compensation

PermaTherm offers a competitive compensation package, including a base salary commensurate with experience and a bonus program aligned to company and operational performance
