Job description
Some companies hire leaders to execute a plan that has already been written. This company is looking for someone who wants a hand in writing it.
A well-established and financially secure industrial manufacturer is seeking a Vice President of Sales and Marketing to help shape its next phase of growth. You’ll have the freedom to bring ideas forward, the authority to put good ones into action, and a leadership team that genuinely wants your perspective.
This is a company where people build careers. Tenure is valued, strong relationships matter, and the culture is grounded in mutual respect, accountability and helping people grow.
For the right sales leader, this is an opportunity to make a lasting impact on both the business and the team around you.
The Opportunity
This is a true player/coach role.
You’ll lead a small, experienced sales team while staying close to customers, developing new business and helping determine where the company should grow next.
As the business expands, you’ll have the opportunity to add talent and build the sales organization around the strategy you believe will be successful.
The company is open to new tools, new processes and new ways of approaching the market. Whether that means implementing a CRM, improving forecasting, creating better visibility into opportunities or changing how the team targets new business, your ideas will be heard.
You won’t be joining a business looking for someone to simply maintain what already exists. You’ll be trusted to evaluate what is working, identify what could work better and help build what comes next.
The company operates multiple manufacturing facilities across the Western U.S. and Canada and serves a broad mix of commercial and industrial customers.
Your Role
Set the sales strategy and help determine where the company should focus its growth efforts
Personally develop new business and build relationships with key customers and decision-makers
Lead, coach and develop an experienced sales team
Add sales talent as the business grows
Identify new customers, markets and opportunities for profitable growth
Stay actively involved in important opportunities and negotiations
Bring greater visibility and consistency to pipeline management and forecasting
Introduce tools and processes that make the sales team more effective
Work closely with Operations, Engineering, Quality and Finance to pursue business that makes sense for both the customer and the company
Bring the voice of the customer and the market into leadership discussions
Help shape how the company presents itself and develops new business in the marketplace
Requirements
Industrial manufacturing sales experience is important for this role. We need someone who understands what it takes to sell a manufactured product, build long-term customer relationships and balance growth with operational realities.
10+ years of progressive sales and business development experience
Significant customer-facing experience within industrial manufacturing
A history of personally winning new business and growing customer relationships
Experience leading sales professionals while continuing to sell
Experience working with OEMs, fabricators, distributors or similar industrial customers
Strong understanding of pricing, margins and what makes business profitable
The ability to identify promising markets and turn opportunities into customers
Experience creating greater structure and consistency within a sales organization
A leadership style built around trust, respect, accountability and developing people
The ability to be based in Phoenix or relocate to the area
An existing book of identical customers is not required. The company serves multiple markets, and leadership understands that different parts of industrial manufacturing come with different customer networks.
What matters is that you know how to learn a business, understand where it can win, build the right relationships and turn that knowledge into growth.
