Job description

About Sunrise & Sunrise Streams

Sunrise is a nonprofit dedicated to providing transformative camp experiences for children affected by cancer. Every fundraising dollar we raise goes directly toward making camp accessible to more kids. Sunrise Streams is our gaming and esports fundraising initiative, turning everyday gamers and content creators into advocates and fundraisers for camp through charity streams, competitive tournaments, and a growing digital community. We’re launching at the end of summer 2026, and we hope you play a major part in that.

The Role

The Donor Relations & Outreach Specialist is the connective voice between Sunrise Streams and the people who make the magic happen - streamers, donors, tournament participants, and our broader online community. You’ll plan, draft, schedule, and maintain the outreach and content channels that keep our network informed, engaged, and inspired to give. Discord, our blog, streamer outreach, and community news updates.

You’ll report to the Marketing & Community Relations Leads and the Streams Director. This is a role for someone who writes well, plans and projects timelines well, and genuinely enjoys building relationships online. If you’re plugged into gaming culture and want your work to matter, this is a great fit.

Tasks & Responsibilities

Streamer Outreach & Relationship Management

Research and build a prospect list of streamers and creators who align with the Sunrise Streams mission, from micro to mid-tier influencers.

Draft personalized outreach inviting streamers to charity campaigns and tournaments; maintain ongoing communication to keep them engaged.

Track outreach activity and response rates to help the team refine its recruitment approach over time.

Discord Community Management

Serve as an active daily presence by welcoming members, answering questions, and keeping conversations moving.

Plan and maintain a Discord content calendar: announcements, event countdowns, spotlights, and engagement prompts.

Monitor community tone, flag concerns, and help maintain a positive, on-brand environment.

Blog & Written Content

Maintain a content calendar for the Sunrise Streams blog aligned with campaign seasons and organizational priorities.

Draft streamer spotlights, tournament recaps, milestone announcements, and mission-driven storytelling pieces.

Maintain a consistent voice across all content: warm, energetic, and mission-forward.

Community News & Updates

Draft and distribute regular newsletters and updates for donors, streamers, and supporters

Coordinate approvals with the Streams Director and Marketing Lead; track engagement metrics to inform future strategy

Preferred Qualifications:

Writes clearly across formats: Discord messages, blog posts, and professional outreach emails

Understand gaming and streaming culture, and understand how online communities communicate.

Organized and self-directed, you can manage a content calendar and meet deadlines without being micromanaged.

Enjoy relationship-building and aren’t afraid to follow up persistently but warmly.

Care about the mission and are motivated by knowing your work sends kids to camp.

Prior experience managing a Discord server, writing a blog or newsletter, or conducting outreach, even informally, is a plus.

What You’ll Gain

Hands-on experience in nonprofit communications, donor outreach, and community management within a live program.

Direct mentorship from the Marketing Lead and Streams Director, with exposure to nonprofit strategy and operations.

A published portfolio of real work: blog posts, outreach campaigns, Discord programming, and community content.

Practical skills in content planning, creator relations, and digital community management in the growing gaming-for-good space.

We value our volunteers and the time and energy they put into supporting our org. As such, academic credit is available if desired (we ask that you confirm details with your department chair and registrar's office first), and we are happy to provide letters of recommendation.
