Job description
VisionPath CFO works with owner-led businesses across professional services, project-based firms, nonprofits, multi-entity organisations, franchisors, and healthcare. The firm's point of difference is communicating financial insight in plain language, ensuring owners leave every meeting with clear actions they can take immediately.
This role involves deep engagement with 2-4 clients at a time, building financial strategy in genuine partnership with owners rather than simply presenting recommendations. The work spans rigorous modelling on pricing, contracts, capital structure, and transactions, through to architecting bespoke reporting frameworks. The hire will also manage relationships with external parties including lenders, CPAs, brokers, and advisors, and lead difficult but necessary financial conversations with client leadership.
Own the client finance relationship as the primary strategic partner, maintaining active involvement in decision-making beyond crisis moments
Develop financial strategy collaboratively with owners, building models across pricing, contract economics, acquisition analysis, capital structure, and exit readiness
Architect the reporting and metrics framework for each client, determining what the business should monitor and building the supporting infrastructure
Manage external stakeholder relationships including lenders, advisors, brokers, and outside CPAs
Communicate complex financial information clearly so non-financial owners can understand and act on it
Collaborate with the VisionPath CFO team through shadowing sessions and weekly leadership check-ins
10 or more years of experience as a CFO or in a comparable senior finance role
Direct experience working with owner-led businesses under $50 million in revenue
Hands-on M&A, capital structure, or exit advisory experience
Proven ability to build financial models for strategic decisions independently
Track record managing relationships with external stakeholders such as lenders, investors, and board members
Must operate as a 1099 independent contractor with own LLC and professional E&O insurance
