Job description
Angelo State University invites applications for a full-time, non-tenure-track Visiting Assistant Professor of Physics position in the Department of Physics and Geosciences beginning Spring 2027. This one semester faculty appointment carries a normal teaching load, with primary responsibility for teaching introductory physics and astronomy courses.
Teach undergraduate astronomy and physics courses in traditional, online, and/or dual-credit formats
Maintain effective teaching practices and contribute to the mission of the Department of Physics and Geosciences
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of current instructional practices, learner-centered teaching methods, assessment strategies, and student engagement techniques.
Skill in utilizing new and novel instructional technology and alternative delivery methods
Skill in effective oral and written communication
Ability to work collaboratively with faculty, staff, and students
Minimum Qualifications
PhD degree in physics, astronomy, or a closely related field at the time of employment
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Ability to teach undergraduate astronomy and physics courses in traditional, online, and dual-credit formats
