Job description
Build and lead the engineering organisation that ships Orcher into regulated enterprises.
You will own engineering execution for the Orcher control plane: the roadmap, the release discipline, and the team that carries both. Today that is a small senior group; within a year it is a multi-team organisation covering control plane, identity, evidence, data boundary, and product engineering.
The role is hands‑on at the architecture level and accountable at the business level. You will sit in design‑partner security reviews, defend architectural decisions to enterprise CISOs and auditors, and translate what you hear there into engineering priorities.
We are looking for a leader who has scaled an engineering team through the stage where informal coordination stops working, without importing process that slows a small team down.
What you will do
Own delivery of the Orcher roadmap across control plane, identity, evidence, and data boundary workstreams.
Hire, level, and develop senior engineers; establish the technical bar and defend it.
Set the engineering operating cadence: planning, review, on‑call, incident response, and post‑incident learning.
Own reliability and security posture for a system enterprises route consequential actions through.
Represent engineering in design‑partner architecture reviews, security questionnaires, and audit conversations.
Partner with product and the founder on sequencing, build‑versus‑buy, and technical risk.
What we look for
Experience leading engineering teams that shipped enterprise infrastructure or security products.
A credible technical background — you can read the code and challenge the design.
Demonstrated success hiring senior engineers in a competitive market.
Comfort with enterprise procurement, security review, and compliance cycles.
Clear written communication; you will write documents that customers and auditors read.
Judgement about when to add process and when to remove it.
Experience
12+ years in software engineering with 5+ years leading engineers, including managing managers or leads.
Has scaled an organisation from roughly 5 to 30+ engineers while maintaining quality and velocity.
Direct experience with regulated customers — financial services, healthcare, insurance, or the public sector.
Education
BS or MS in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
Equivalent experience leading technical organisations is accepted in place of a degree.
