AMPAM is a leading Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) contractor serving large-scale multifamily and commercial projects across California. With 1,500 employees across multiple business units, we are committed to delivering quality, safety, and excellence in every project.

Job Summary

VP of Operations – HVAC is responsible for overseeing all operational aspects of HVAC systems installation and service in multi-family new construction projects. This executive role focuses on strategic planning, field operations, prefabrication, logistics, quality assurance, and financial performance. The VP ensures HVAC work is delivered safely, efficiently, on time, and within budget, while driving continuous improvement and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities (But not limited to the following)

Strategic Operations Leadership

Develop and implement operational strategies for HVAC across multiple multi-family construction projects.

Align HVAC operations with overall corporate objectives, project timelines, and quality standards.

Identify opportunities for process improvement, labor productivity, and cost optimization.

Field Operations Management

Oversee HVAC field teams, including superintendents, foremen, and technicians.

Manage scheduling, labor allocation, and project coordination to meet deadlines.

Ensure installations comply with design specifications, codes, and safety standards.

Prefabrication & Logistics

Integrate prefabrication processes to streamline HVAC installation and reduce field labor.

Coordinate material procurement, delivery, staging, and inventory management.

Optimize logistics to improve project efficiency and minimize delays.

Financial & Performance Management

Develop and manage budgets for HVAC operations and projects.

Track labor productivity, material usage, and cost performance.

Approve vendor contracts, procurement plans, and capital investments.

Quality & Safety

Implement quality control programs to ensure compliance with design, codes, and company standards.

Promote a culture of safety, ensuring adherence to OSHA and company safety policies.

Monitor incident reports, enforce corrective actions, and maintain proactive safety measures.

Team Leadership

Build, mentor, and lead high-performing operational and field teams.

Conduct performance evaluations, coaching, and succession planning.

Foster collaboration, accountability, and a continuous improvement mindset.

Stakeholder Engagement

Serve as a key point of contact for developers, general contractors, clients, and vendors regarding HVAC operations.

Maintain communication on project progress, challenges, and milestones.

Resolve operational issues quickly to maintain client satisfaction and project schedules.

Qualifications

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.

MBA or advanced degree preferred but not required.

Experience

10+ years in HVAC construction operations, preferably in multi-family or large residential projects.

5+ years in senior management or executive operations roles.

Experience managing prefabrication, field teams, and logistics operations.

Strong knowledge of HVAC systems, codes, and industry best practices.

Skills

Strategic leadership and operational management.

Budgeting, financial analysis, and cost control.

Project scheduling, logistics, and resource optimization.

Strong communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.

Ability to drive results while maintaining safety and quality standards.
