Job description
Our client is a leading global investment firm looking to add a VP to lead its Private Credit Valuations team in New York. The role offers significant exposure to a growing portfolio of private investments and close interaction with investment professionals and senior leadership.
This is a highly analytical position focused on developing an independent view of value across complex and illiquid credit investments. You'll dig into underlying company performance, capital structures, credit fundamentals, market conditions, and transaction-specific factors to understand what is driving value across the portfolio.
The position is particularly well suited to someone who enjoys the investment and analytical side of valuations and wants greater ownership and proximity to deal teams.
What You'll Do
Lead valuation analysis across a portfolio of private credit investments
Analyze company financials, credit performance, capital structures, and relevant market data
Develop and review valuation models and determine appropriate methodologies for individual investments
Work directly with investment professionals to understand portfolio developments, transaction activity, and changes in credit quality
Evaluate key assumptions and provide an independent perspective on valuation conclusions
Communicate valuation movements and key areas of judgment to senior stakeholders
Contribute to the continued development of the firm's valuation framework and analytical capabilities
What They're Looking For
6+ years of relevant valuation experience, with exposure to private credit or other illiquid investments
Background from an investment firm, valuation advisory practice, transaction advisory team, or similar environment
Strong financial modelling, credit analysis, and fundamental company analysis skills
Understanding of valuation approaches for private and illiquid investments
Ability to independently assess and defend valuation conclusions
Strong communication skills and confidence working directly with investment professionals
The role offers a combination of technical depth, investment exposure, and meaningful ownership within a sophisticated private markets platform, with strong long-term progression as the business continues to grow.
