Vice President of Operations
Location: Greater Boston area
Position Summary
Our client, an established manufacturing company in the Greater Boston area, is seeking a strong operating executive to lead multi-site operations as Vice President of Operations. This is a high-visibility leadership role for a proven operator with clear potential to grow into broader enterprise responsibility over time, including a defined path toward Chief Operating Officer readiness. The ideal candidate combines hands‑on operational leadership with the executive presence to influence peers and functional leaders across the business.
Key Responsibilities
Lead multi‑site operations and functional leadership teams, driving measurable, sustained performance improvement
Own meaningful P&L and operating accountability for a major business area
Lead operating leaders and functional managers, with a demonstrated ability to broaden leadership scope over time
Participate actively in enterprise and annual planning, including leading the planning process for your area
Translate company strategy into clear, actionable operating priorities
Influence effectively across functions and peers in a matrix leadership environment
Partner closely with the CFO, Sales, HR, EVPs, and other cross‑functional leaders to execute shared priorities
Support and grow into a governance role for R&D/innovation and commercialization initiatives
Develop managers and operating leaders, building bench strength and succession depth
Required Qualifications & Experience
Strong manufacturing operations background; multi‑site experience strongly preferred
Demonstrated P&L or operating accountability, even if concentrated within one major business unit
Proven, measurable track record of operational improvement
Experience leading through leaders, not solely through direct reports
Comfortable operating with and influencing senior cross‑functional leaders (CFO, Sales, HR, EVP‑level peers)
Prior experience translating strategy into execution within an assigned area or business unit
Growth Path
This position is structured as a Vice President of Operations role with a defined path toward Chief Operating Officer readiness. The ideal candidate is an excellent operator who may not yet be fully proven at enterprise scale, but who shows clear potential to broaden scope, increase executive capacity, and grow into an enterprise‑level operating role.
