Position Summary

MUST LIVE WITHIN 30 MINUTES OF CHATSWORTH, CA

We are seeking an experienced and highly organized Warehouse Manager with direct knowledge of the low voltage, structured cabling, or telecommunications industry.

This position is responsible for the overall operation, organization, accuracy, and efficiency of the warehouse, including inventory management, receiving, material staging, project material allocation, returns, tools, equipment, vehicles, and coordination with project teams.

This is not simply a warehouse or inventory position. The successful candidate must understand how low voltage projects are estimated, purchased, staged, deployed, installed, and closed out. The Warehouse Manager will work closely with Project Managers, Estimators, Purchasing, Operations, and field technicians to ensure the correct materials and equipment are available when required.

The ideal candidate understands common low voltage manufacturers, materials, terminology, and part numbers and can quickly identify products used on structured cabling and related technology projects.

Key Responsibilities

Warehouse Operations

Manage the daily operation, organization, cleanliness, safety, and security of the warehouse

Establish and maintain clearly defined locations for inventory, project materials, tools, equipment, returns, and miscellaneous stock

Maintain a professional warehouse environment using appropriate labeling, shelving, bin locations, and inventory controls

Develop and enforce warehouse procedures for receiving, stocking, picking, staging, issuing, returning, and transferring materials

Ensure warehouse space is used efficiently and materials are easily identifiable and accessible

Conduct regular cycle counts and physical inventory counts

Investigate and resolve inventory discrepancies

Maintain accurate records of materials entering and leaving the warehouse

Low Voltage Material Knowledge

The Warehouse Manager should have working knowledge of materials commonly used in the low voltage industry, including:

Category 5e, Category 6, Category 6A and specialty copper cabling

Fiber optic cable and assemblies

Fiber enclosures, cassettes, adapters, connectors and patch panels

Copper patch panels, jacks, faceplates and patch cords

Equipment racks, cabinets and cable management

J hooks, cable tray and pathway products

Innerduct, conduit and related pathway materials

Grounding and bonding components

Firestop materials

Velcro, labels and installation consumables

AV, WiFi, DAS, access control and video surveillance materials

Low voltage tools, test equipment and installation equipment

The candidate should be comfortable working with manufacturer names, SKUs, part numbers, descriptions, units of measure and substitutions. Experience with manufacturers and distributors commonly used in the low voltage industry is strongly preferred.

Project Material Management

Review project material requirements with Project Managers and Estimators.

Understand project Bills of Material and material takeoffs.

Stage materials by project, phase, floor, area, system, or crew when appropriate.

Verify staged materials against project requirements before releasing them to the field.

Coordinate project mobilization to ensure materials, tools, and equipment are ready before technicians arrive on site.

Track material assigned to individual projects.

Maintain separation between company stock and project specific materials.

Coordinate material transfers between the warehouse, job sites, and other locations.

Process unused project materials returned from job sites.

Identify excess, damaged, obsolete, or incorrectly ordered material.

Assist Project Managers with material reconciliation during project closeout.

Receiving and Purchasing Coordination

Receive incoming shipments and verify quantities against purchase orders and packing slips.

Identify shortages, damaged materials, incorrect shipments, and backordered items.

Communicate discrepancies quickly to Purchasing and Project Management.

Properly label and assign received materials to inventory or specific projects.

Coordinate with Purchasing regarding material requirements, lead times, substitutions, and urgent project needs.

Help identify frequently used materials that should be maintained as warehouse stock.

Inventory Control

Maintain accurate inventory records for warehouse stock.

Establish minimum and maximum inventory levels for commonly used materials.

Identify slow moving, obsolete, and excess inventory.

Conduct regular cycle counts.

Maintain accountability for high value materials.

Develop processes to reduce material loss, duplication, and unnecessary purchasing.

Provide management with regular inventory reports.

Tools and Equipment

Maintain an organized tool and equipment inventory.

Track tools and equipment issued to employees and projects.

Coordinate inspection, calibration, maintenance, and repair of equipment where required.

Ensure damaged or unsafe equipment is removed from service.

Maintain accountability for high value test equipment and specialized tools.

Help establish standardized technician and project tool kits.

Project and Field Support

The Warehouse Manager must understand that the warehouse is a critical support function for field operations. Responsibilities include:

Responding quickly to material requests from Project Managers and field personnel.

Preparing materials for upcoming project mobilizations.

Identifying potential material shortages before they affect field production.

Coordinating emergency material requirements.

Helping field personnel identify unfamiliar materials or part numbers.

Ensuring technicians are not losing productive time because required materials or equipment were not properly prepared.

Excel and Technology Requirements

Strong Microsoft Excel skills are required. The candidate should be comfortable using Excel for:

Inventory tracking

Material lists

Bills of Material

Project material allocation

Cycle counts

Tool and equipment tracking

Material usage reports

Sorting and filtering

Basic formulas and calculations

Identifying duplicate or missing information

Experience working with ERP, inventory management, construction management, or warehouse management systems is strongly preferred. Experience with Procore, Vista, Microsoft 365, barcode systems, or similar platforms is a plus.

Required Qualifications

Minimum 5 years of warehouse, inventory, logistics, or material management experience.

Minimum 3 years of experience within low voltage, structured cabling, telecommunications, electrical, AV, security, or a closely related industry strongly preferred.

Strong knowledge of low voltage materials and terminology.

Ability to recognize and work with manufacturer part numbers and SKUs.

Understanding of how commercial construction and low voltage projects are executed.

Experience managing project specific material.

Excellent organizational and documentation skills.

Strong attention to detail and inventory accuracy.

Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.

Strong communication skills when working with Project Managers, Estimators, Purchasing, technicians, vendors, and management.

Ability to identify problems and take ownership of resolving them.

Experience supervising warehouse personnel is preferred.

Preferred Industry Experience

Experience supporting one or more of the following is highly desirable:

Structured Cabling

Fiber Optics

WiFi Infrastructure

Physical Access Control

Data Center Infrastructure

Commercial Low Voltage Construction

BICSI training or certifications and manufacturer training are considered a plus.

The Warehouse Manager is expected to take ownership of the warehouse rather than simply process material requests. The successful candidate will:

Physical Requirements

Ability to work in an active warehouse environment.

Ability to lift and move materials commonly associated with low voltage installations.

Ability to operate warehouse equipment where properly trained and authorized.

Ability to spend portions of the workday standing, walking, lifting, organizing, and inspecting warehouse inventory.

What Success Looks Like

A successful Warehouse Manager will create a warehouse operation where materials can be located quickly, inventory records are reliable, project materials are staged correctly and on time, tools and equipment are accounted for, and Project Managers and technicians have confidence that the warehouse will support their projects effectively.

The objective is to make the warehouse a highly organized and dependable extension of Project Operations rather than simply a storage facility.
