Job description
Warehouse SupervisorThe Warehouse Supervisor is responsible for overseeing a wide variety of warehouse activities including shipping/receiving, and inventory maintenance. In addition, the Warehouse Supervisor is included in the recruiting and hiring of warehouse personnel, labor planning and workload allocation, conducting performance appraisals, addressing performance issues and resolving problems.Supervise and assist in daily warehouse and shipping areasManage the periodic maintenance of all equipment, fixtures and fabric on warehouse premisesDevelop and maintain a productive work team through training and professional developmentEstablish, maintain and promote high standards of customer serviceLiaise with drivers, customers and warehouse personnelMaintain effective internal control over product flow and inventoryManage and maintain adherence to both customer and company standard operating procedures to allow the accurate, timely, and safe handling of goods.Interpret company policies to workers and enforce safety regulationsRecommend measures to improve the quality of service and increase efficiency of departmentParticipate in the selection process of new personnel, train incoming personnelOther duties as assigned by Warehouse ManagementBroad knowledge of warehouse operationsEffective oral and written communication skills at all levels regarding supervision, counseling and disciplineStrong leadership and management skillsAbility to effectively prioritize and delegate workProficient with computersAbility to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating procedures and maintenance instructions.Knowledge of general business computer software and aptitude to learn new software applications.Single-double, clamp, and other specialized forklift attachment experience preferredForklift certificationAt least 4 years experience managing within a warehouse environmentAt least 3 years experience operating a forkliftHigh school diplomaWhile performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required for extended periods of time to stand, walk, sit and use hands to manipulate, handle or feel objects, tools, controls and office equipment. The employee frequently is required to talk and hear. The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel or crouch (by bending body downward and forward by bending leg and spine), maintain body equilibrium to prevent falling. The employee may be required to pull (using upper extremities to exert force in order to haul or tug objects in a sustained motion) or remove inventory from shelves, lift up to 50 pounds (group lift up to 70 pounds), raise objects from a lower to higher position or move objects horizontally from position-to-position, climb ladders and use forklift machines. Must wear goggles, gloves and vest when required.While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be required to work in a non heated/air-conditioned warehouse throughout all seasons and is subjected to outside environmental conditions.
