nReports to: Program Director
nSalary - Wage: $30/hour for group lessons, $40/hour for individual lessons
nThe 14th Street Y is a vibrant Jewish community center located in Downtown Manhattan. n nJOB PURPOSE
nTeach Learn to Swim classes and water safety according to our program standards and Aquatic industry standards. Ensure health and safety of all clients in the pool and surrounding areas.
nSCOPE OF INFLUENCE
nnPartners with internal and external customers
n nKEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES
nJob Area/Function 1 (90%)
nnnMust have a current WATER SAFETY INSTRUCTOR certification through duration of employment
n
nnTeach Learn to swim group and individual classes as scheduled.
n
nnBe responsible for safety of students
n
nnAssess abilities of students to ensure appropriate level placement
n
nnEnsure a positive learn to swim environment
n
nnBe in the water with all classes
n
nnDeliver excellent customer service to all members and clients at the 14th Street Y at all times.
n
nnGuide customers in regards to established Aquatics protocols and proceedures .
n
n nJob Area/Function 2 (10%)
nnnDevelop professional relationships with co-workers, participants and guests.
n
nnAttend Aquatics Staff meetings and trainings as scheduled.
n
nnPerform other duties as assigned.
n
n nJOB REQUIREMENTS
nRequired Knowledge
nnnWater Safety Instructor certification required.
n
nnCurrent Life Guard, CPR, and First Aid certifications a plus
n
nnExcellent customer service skills handling matters in courteous and friendly manner
n
nnAbility to work early morning, evening and weekend schedule required (Between 10 – 17 hours a week)
n
nnTeam player and a passion to build relationships with individuals
n
nnKnowledge of Aquatics industry practices
n
nnProactive, hands on approach, as well as a professional work ethic
n
nnSelf-motivated, highly efficient, strong attention to details
