Job TitleThis classification is a safety-sensitive position as defined by the United States Department of Transportation drug and alcohol testing regulations and/or the Oklahoma Standards for Workplace Drug and Alcohol Testing Act.General Description Of PositionPerforms a variety of unskilled labor and maintenance work in the construction, operation, repair maintenance and replacement of City water, sewer, street and storm drainage facilities and systems and may operate a variety of tools and equipment on a limited basis.Examples Of DutiesEssential duties and responsibilities include:Helps perform routine inspection and preventive maintenance on assigned equipment and refers defects or needed repairs to Supervisors and cleans equipment.Performs all duties in conformance to appropriate safety and security standards.Performs required labor involving in construction and maintenance projects as part of a crew, including pavement cutting, ditch digging, manhole and line cleaning, main and pipe.Helps cut, fit, lay, repair, tap, clean and flush water mains, pipes, gates and fittings on repair of mains and services, fire hydrants and drinking fountains, assist in shutting off broken sections of water mains.Helps services water supply, sewer lift and other pumps.Performs routine grounds and building maintenance.Helps contact residents and business owners in area where services will be disconnected and explains when services will be shut off and how soon it will be turned on.May operate a variety of power construction and maintenance equipment used in the water.Perform any other related duties as required or assigned.Typical QualificationsQualifications include:High school or GED, plus specialized schooling and/or on the job education in a specific skill area; e.g. data processing, clerical/administrative, equipment operation, etc, plus 0 to 6 months related experience and/or training. Or equivalent combination of education and experience. Required certificates, licenses, registrations include Oklahoma CDL Class B License Water and Wastewater Operator Class D License - you will have 6 month to obtain this license.
