Job description
Senior Software Engineer – Wayfair, Baton Rouge, USA.
Hourly Rate: $20–$30 per hour.
Base Salary: $207,000–$230,000 (annual, if applicable).
Location: Baton Rouge, USA (hybrid work schedule possible).
Educational requirement: Bachelor's degree (Master's or PhD preferred).
Job Responsibilities
Explore and advance ideas in the home and retail space using emerging technology such as new user interaction technologies, augmented environments, visual computing, and system learning.
Identify high‑impact opportunities and construct prototypes to validate feasibility with state‑of‑the‑art technology.
Deliver engaging reports that clarify ambiguity/complexity and showcase the value of work.
Coordinate with internal cross‑functional partners and external partners (e.g., Magic, Google, Adobe).
Participate in the tech and innovation community via blogs/papers, talks, panel discussions, and external outreach.
Provide technical guidance and collaborate with product, engineering, and business teams on approach, design, implementation, and launch.
Qualifications
8+ years of research & development experience with a portfolio demonstrating breadth of projects at the intersection of design, engineering, and entrepreneurship.
Alternatively, Master's/PhD in computer science, software engineering, or human–computer interaction with 7+ years of experience in multidisciplinary R&D environments.
Proficiency in rapidly prototyping and navigating ambiguous problem spaces.
Strong communication skills for ideation, case building, persuasion, hypothesis testing, feedback incorporation, and driving initiatives to successful outcomes.
Entrepreneurial mindset with a focus on problem definition and solution design.
