Job description
We're Hiring: LifeguardUnder the supervision of the Aquatics Director, the Lifeguard is primarily responsible to ensure safety through vigilance and prevent drownings. The Lifeguard is secondarily responsible for performing routine chemical checks, helping to assist set up of swim areas, and basic routine cleaning in and around the pool.Key responsibilities, in coordination and consultation with the Director/Asst. Director, include:Embodying an outgoing and enthusiastic personality at all times.Strong customer service while enforcing all policies and proceduresReporting to work in uniform a minimum of ten minutes prior to the assigned shiftExplaining and enforcing rules and regulationsMaintaining a pool deck cleanlinessMaintaining proper recordsResponding to emergencies in an efficient and professional mannerQualities and qualifications:Age 15 or olderCurrently certified Lifeguarding/CPR/AED/First Aid (required)Being familiar with the facility Emergency Action PlanParticipating in continuing education activities through both internal and external sessions to promote an on-going development of the knowledge, skills, and abilities required for instructors.Physical effort required for daily duties includes lifting heavy weights, squatting, bending, reaching, spotting, and prolonged standing/walking.Must be able to lift and/or move 50+ poundsSalary: $20 per hourThis is a part-time, in-person role, two to four days a week, with occasional evenings and holidays throughout the year.The Riverdale Y is a 50,000 sq. ft. Jewish Community Center that provides educational, recreational, cultural, and wellness programming for children and adults of all ages. The Y features an early childhood center, camps and afterschool programs, senior center, performing arts center, and health & wellness center that includes cardio and free weight studios, group exercise classes, gymnasium, and swimming pool.
