Job description
We are seeking a Wealth Advisor to join the Washington, DC team of a nationally recognized, rapidly growing independent RIA. This role is built for a hungry, relationship-driven CFP professional who wants to grow a practice with the full backing of a collaborative team, a deep firm platform, and leadership that shows up alongside you.
You’ll start with a set of existing client relationships so you’re advising from day one, then focus on building your practice with clients in the $1–5 million range with support from your leadership team. You’ll get access to the firm’s established network of centers of influence (CPAs, attorneys, etc), plus a dedicated business development representative for the DC market.
It’s an opportunity to build something of your own, with real upside, at a firm that has recently secured new growth capital and is investing heavily in advisor growth, lead generation, and the DC market.
This is a hybrid role, with new hires working primarily in the office until acclimated to the team.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Drive new client growth through referrals, existing centers of influence, community involvement, professional and alumni networks, and events aligned with your interests.
Build and maintain strong, long-term client relationships, serving as a trusted advisor to families and individuals.
Deliver comprehensive wealth planning across all aspects of a family's financial well-being, including financial planning and budgeting, holistic balance sheet advice (cash and debt), asset allocation and investments, estate and tax planning, insurance analysis and review, and charitable strategy.
Apply strong knowledge of capital markets and asset allocation to guide client decisions.
Present confidently and persuasively to prospective clients and win their trust.
Collaborate with team members to develop best practices for building and maintaining strong client relationships.
Maintain high standards of professionalism, detail, and organization across client and internal work.
QUALIFICATIONS
5+ years of experience as a client-facing wealth advisor.
CFP designation required (exceptional candidates holding a CPA, CFA, or JD may be considered).
Series 65 required, or obtained within 90 days of hire.
Bachelor's degree required.
Demonstrated business development drive and a track record of growing client relationships.
Polished, confident presence with prospective and high-net-worth clients.
RIA experience preferred ; candidates from wirehouses, banks, trust companies, and other channels are welcome.
Experience with financial planning software (MoneyGuide or eMoney).
Expertise with law firm compensation structures is a strong plus; experience serving physicians or deep insurance knowledge is also valued.
Team-oriented, high-integrity, curious, and coachable, with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
Base salary of $175,000–$200,000, commensurate with experience, with a compensation model built on a competitive percentage of revenue served as your practice grows, and a likely new business incentive component. Equity participation opportunities may also be available.
