Job description
Welder (Cage)Work Location: The physical location for this position is the home base at our equipment yard in Harpersville, AL., or be assigned to a jobsite as the business needs demand. The ability to travel and adapt to different job sites is essential so welders must be prepared to work in various geographical locations and conditions. This position is anticipated to start at our Lacassine, Louisiana location.Role: The Welder is responsible for cutting and joining pipe and other metal at company facilities and construction job sites. The role involves operating appropriate equipment with precision and working in conjunction with the process of installing deep foundations and piling structures.Primary Responsibilities:Cut and join pipe and other metal at company facilities and construction job sitesOperate appropriate welding equipment with precisionWork in conjunction with the process of installing deep foundations and piling structuresUse a variety of welding equipment and procedures (TIG, MMA, etc.)Comprehend blueprints and drawingsUnderstand measurements to plan layout and proceduresDetermine the appropriate welding and cutting equipment or methodOperate angle grinders to prepare parts to be weldedAlign components using required devices and clampsWeld components using manual or semi-automatic welding equipment in various positionsRepair machinery and other components with weld as requiredTest and inspect welded surfaces and structures to discover flawsMaintain equipmentAdhere to company policies, state, and federal regulationsPosition Requirements:Competency in the use of a variety of welding equipment and procedures (TIG, MMA, etc.)Ability to comprehend blueprints and drawingsUnderstanding of measurements to plan layout and proceduresKnowledge of different types of metal and their propertiesProfessional certification is preferredPreferred Experience:Preference given to candidates with good references and a minimum of five years of experience that meets or exceeds performance expectationsSkills and Abilities:Knowledge of different types of metal and their properties is requiredProfessional certification is preferredOther Qualifications:Must be able to work a flexible work schedule during the busy seasonMust be able to work late or irregular hoursPrevious knowledge of construction and construction products is helpfulMust understand and maintain the internal and external customer service responsibilities of the positionEducation and/or Experience:High school diploma or general education degree (GED)Must have a Class B Driver's LicensePhysical Requirements:Constant sitting, reaching, and graspingOccasional lifting, carrying, walking, and climbingAll aspects of vision are required – acuity, depth perception, and field of visionAbility to talk and hear is important for communication between co-workers on safety and operational matters affecting equipment operationsTools to Be Furnished by Employee:Steel-toed work bootsLong sleeve shirtSuitable work pants with no holes25-foot tape measure12-inch adjustable wrenchItems Furnished by the Company:Hard hatWork glovesSafety glassesSafety vestHearing protectionFall protectionAny other personal protective equipment (PPE) required for the job
