Production Welder (Shop) – Class AClassification: HourlyReports To: Production Supervisor/ForemanPosition SummaryTrident Maritime Systems is seeking a highly skilled Production Welder (Shop) – Class A to support fabrication operations in a controlled shop environment. This role focuses on table-top welding and repeat production work, requiring exceptional weld quality, efficiency, and attention to detail.The ideal candidate is an advanced-level welder with extensive experience in shop-based production welding, capable of performing FCAW (Flux Core), GMAW (MIG), and GTAW (TIG) welding at a high level with little to no supervision. This position requires the ability to consistently produce high-quality, multi-pass welds, handle more complex weldments, and meet or exceed quality standards with minimal to no rework.This role is suited for individuals who demonstrate a high level of craftsmanship, strong productivity, and the ability to maintain consistent output in a fast-paced production environment while supporting team development and setting a strong example of workmanship and professionalism.Responsibilities / AuthoritiesPerform FCAW (Flux Core), GMAW (MIG), and GTAW (TIG) welding on a variety of materials in a shop environmentExecute table-top fabrication and welding in a controlled production setting.Consistently produce high-quality welds that meet or exceed quality standards with minimal to no reworkPerform multi-pass welds on both standard and complex weldments with proper bead placement and sequencingMaintain first-time quality standards and support overall shop efficiencyPerform grinding, cleaning, and finishing of welds to meet production and quality expectationsInterpret and execute work instructions, blueprints, and weld symbols with minimal supervisionMaintain productivity levels to meet or exceed daily and weekly production goalsAssist with fit-up tasks and support workflow as neededSupport team development by sharing knowledge, assisting less experienced welders, and promoting quality and productivity standardsMaintain a clean, organized, and safe work areaComply with all company safety, quality, and operational proceduresQualifications / Knowledge / Experience:Required:8+ years of welding experience2+ years of shop-based welding experience (fabrication shop preferred)Minimum of five (5) welding certifications across multiple welding processesMust be proficient in FCAW (Flux Core) and GMAW (MIG) welding processesAdvanced GTAW (TIG) welding capability required, including work on carbon steel and stainless steelExperience welding additional materials such as copper-nickel and aluminum is highly desirable and may be required based on production needsAbility to consistently produce high-quality, multi-pass welds with minimal to no reworkAbility to perform welding operations with little to no supervision while maintaining production efficiency and quality standardsStrong understanding of weld quality standards, bead profile, and proper techniqueMust be able to pass company-required welding tests (MIL-SPEC / NAVSEA standards as applicable)Strong work ethic and ability to perform in a production-focused environmentAbility to support team development and work effectively within a team environmentExperience reading and interpreting blueprints and weld symbolsPreferred:Basic fit-up knowledge and ability to assist with fabrication tasksExperience with stainless steel or copper-nickel MIG weldingExposure to TIG welding (limited application)Previous experience in a production fabrication shop environmentWork Environment / Physical RequirementsWork is performed in a controlled shop environment (not field or shipboard work)Welding is primarily performed at tables and fixtures (table-top welding) in seated or standing positionsRegularly required to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and perform repetitive tasksAbility to perform repetitive welding tasks in consistent and varying work positions throughout the shiftAbility to lift to 50 lbs. as requiredMust be able to safely operate welding equipment, grinders, and related toolsExposure to typical shop conditions including noise, heat, and welding fumesPhysical DemandsThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an teammate to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the teammate is regularly required to stand, walk, use hands to manipulate, handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms, climb and balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, and talk or hear. Teammates are occasionally required to sit.Specific physical requirements include but are not limited to the following:Must have the ability to bend, squat, stoop, crawl, and kneel.Perform prolonged standing.Ability to turn head from side to side and about the vertical axis.Ability to turn body at the waist from side to side and about the vertical axis.Lift/push/pull 50lbs to 75lbs on an occasional basis.Lift/push/pull up to 20lbs on a frequent basis.Must have the ability to climb in a safe manner (climbing as a minimum includes stairs, scaffolding.)Able to work at a variety of levels (ex. waist, eye, overhead).Demonstrate the ability to safely and appropriately use required tools and equipment.Additional RequirementsMust be able to pass a drug screening and background checkMust comply with all company safety, quality, and operational proceduresMust be able to work overtime as required to meet production demandsMust consistently demonstrate high levels of reliability, productivity, and craftsmanship in a production environmentMust be willing to support team development, assist less experienced welders, and promote quality and efficiency standards within the shopLiaises With: Trade Supervisors, Foremen, and Managers when needed.SafetyMust comply with company, federal, state, and local safety and environmental rules and regulations while performing daily job tasks.
