Job description
Welding PositionHire-On Bonus: $3,000 total, paid in increments of $500 per month after hire!Hours: Monday-Thursday, 6:00am-4:00pm, possible OT on FridayPay: $23.00-$30.00/HRDutiesWeld components in flat, vertical, or overhead positionsIgnite torches or start power supplies and strike arcs to complete electrical circuitsClamp, hold, tack-weld, heat-bend, grind, or bolt parts into required configurationsDetect faulty equipment operation or defective materials and report to supervisorsOperate manual and semi-automatic welding equipment (GTAW, GMAW, FCAW, plasma arc, SMAW, resistance, submerged arc)Monitor fitting, burning, and welding processes to prevent overheating, warping, shrinking, or distortionExamine workpieces for defects and measure with straightedges, templates, or calipers to ensure specifications are metSet up and operate hand and power tools common to the welding tradeLay out, align, and secure parts and assemblies using precision measuring toolsChip or grind off excess weld, slag, or spatter using scrapers, grinders, or arc-cutting equipmentInterpret engineering drawings, blueprints, specifications, sketches, and work orders to plan welding operationsAdjust regulator valves to control gas flow and pressure for desired flamesWeld aluminum, stainless steel, cast iron, and other alloysDetermine required equipment and welding methods using knowledge of metallurgy and geometryMark or tag materials with job numbers and piece marksPrepare material surfaces by removing scale, rust, grease, or other contaminantsSelect and install torches, tips, filler rods, and flux per welding chart specificationsPosition and secure workpieces using hoists, cranes, wire, or banding machinesClean or degrease parts using brushes, grinders, or chemical bathsRepair products by dismantling, reshaping, and reassembling parts with cutting torches and pressesQualifications5+ years of welding experience preferred (open to candidates with less if highly skilled)Ability to read and interpret blueprints, production layouts, specifications, technical drawings, and work ordersProficiency in multiple welding processes (GTAW, GMAW, FCAW, SMAW, etc.)Strong knowledge of metallurgy, welding techniques, and safety practicesSkilled in using measuring tools (straightedges, squares, calipers, rulers)Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in physically demanding environmentsDemonstrated ability to work independently with minimal training or supervisionAttention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality weldsStrong problem-solving skills for detecting and correcting defectsFamiliarity with hoists, cranes, grinders, and other welding-related equipmentWhat Does Express Offer To You?Weekly paychecks!Vision InsuranceMedical PlanDental Plan401(K) Retirement Savings PlanLife InsuranceReferral Bonuses (Earn up to $125 for each person you refer!)Why Express Employment Professionals, Appleton WI?Express, Appleton WI placed over 1,350 people in 2024 just in the Appleton area!We provide our associates with excellent comprehensive and competitive benefits!When you apply to us, you apply to 100+ companies in the Fox Valley!Over 170 people were hired to a permanent position in 2024.
