Job OpportunityMesser owns and operates a World Class fleet repair and refurbishment center in scenic Chattanooga, Tennessee, where the team performs maintenance, repair, and refurbishment work on transport equipment to ensure safe and reliable assets for the company.The core work of the site is to restore fleet trailers to "Like New" condition. Candidates with limited or basic experience are encouraged to apply. Compensation for this position is progressive; as skills are developed and qualified in the role over a 3-year period, compensation will be adjusted on an annual basis. The selected candidate will be promoted to a full welder-fabricator at successful completion of the training and qualification period.Principal ResponsibilitiesMaintain a safe and clean work environmentPerform individual welding and fabrication tasks on trailers under the supervision of more experienced welder-fabricatorsAssist more experienced welder-fabricators with fabricating subframes and weldmentsAssist the Site Support Technician with breaking down and disassembly of incoming trailers for rebuildingOther miscellaneous site tasks and responsibilities as dictated by the site leadership teamRequired SkillsBasic computer skillsBasic mechanics tool set, or the willingness and ability to procure one within 90 days of hireAbility to read, write, and understand EnglishAbility to do basic mathStrong willingness to learn and develop personal skills and abilitiesStrong ability to take direction and input from more experienced co-workersStrong desire to progress through the qualification process to full Welder-Fabricator statusBasic QualificationsHigh School Diploma or GEDPreferred QualificationsLimited or entry level experience with welding and fabricating, ideally from a vocational school, tech school, shop class, or other instructional programAbility to read work instructions, blueprints, and/or flow chartsStrong mechanical aptitudeCreative thinking mindset to suggest improvements and changesMesser's safety culture, commitment to providing dependable supply and innovative gas technology solutions help customers unlock opportunities to be safer, more sustainable, more productive, and more efficient, so their business thrives.
