Job description
Welder Position in Fairhope, ALTEL Staffing is seeking a welder to join our team in Fairhope, AL. High School Diploma or GED and four (4) years of welding experience or completion of an accredited two-year welder's training program and two years of welding experience required.Purpose of Position: To prepare and repair various components using standard welding principles and in accordance with applicable maintenance manuals.Essential Functions: (Must be able to perform these functions, with or without a reasonable accommodation).Weld repair components in accordance with overhaul manual using a variety of welding methods including TIG, MIG, Stick, Braze Rod, Spot Weld, Silver Soldier.Operates drill press, grit blast machine, ovens and other associated equipment in the support of the production scheduleUses oven to heat-treat parts regularlyReviews traveler and reads welding prints for directionRepair and/or restore parts using welding equipment/torchesRetrieves and moves gas cylinders from holding area using a dolly as necessaryTravels as requiredConfers with manager/lead to recommend changes such as: equipment utilization, production methods and procedures to increase efficiency of department and promote improvementAttends all safety and health training, as required, in a timely mannerWorks when scheduled and complies with company attendance policyWorks overtime as neededObserves and practices all safety procedures and personal policies (e.g. Safety-glasses, ear plugs, face shields etc.)Skills, Knowledge and Abilities: (These are required to enable job holder to perform the essential functions of the job)Must be proficient using a variety of hand tools such as hand grinders, die grinders for assigned maintenance tasksMust be knowledgeable in welding techniques, (oxygen-acetylene, electric arc, and TIG), tools and equipmentMust have skills in the fabrication, joining and repair of a variety of metal objects, equipment, fixtures and structuresMust be proficient in using a variety of hand tools, special tools, and GSE required to perform assigned maintenance tasksMust be able to work in a relatively loud environment.Must be able to maintain an effective working relationship with, and among co-workers and supervisorsMust be able to work with little or no supervision and to take initiativeMust be able to use applied knowledge to formulate positive solutions to problem situationsMust be able to apply common senseMust be able to effectively read, write and communicate in EnglishMust be proficient in company specific software and Microsoft Office Word and ExcelMust be able to add, subtract, multiply and divide, using fractions and decimals; compute percentages, area, circumference, volume, ratios, rates and interpret graphsMust be able to comply with OSHA requirements and standards to properly wear all applicable PPEMust have knowledge of precision measuring tools/equipment (and electrical)Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. regularly and more, with assistance occasionallyMust be able to see within normal range of vision with or without corrective lensesMust be able to hear running machineryMust be able to use hands, wrists, and fingers repetitivelyMust have exceptional eye-hand coordinationMust regularly be able to reach overheadMust regularly be able to squat, bend, twist and standMust be able to walk around regularly using steps occasionallyAbility to provide verifications of US citizenship or permanent residency to satisfy ITAR/EAR restrictionsMarginal Functions: (Duties that are likely to be assigned to this person, unless he/she proves unable to perform them after receiving training and/or accommodations that the company judges appropriate)Other duties as assignedWork Conditions: Frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts and occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles and vibrations.Experience and Education Requirements:High School Diploma or GED and four (4) years of welding experience or completion of an accredited two-year welder's training program and two years of welding experience required;Certified Welder in accordance with AWSD17 or equivalent in various alloy used at Segers Aero Corporation.Must pass a criminal background checkMust pass a DOT FAA pre-employment drug screen and comply with all FAA regulations.Position is considered safety-sensitive in accordance with DOT and FAA regulations and as such, subject to drug and alcohol testing per FAA's regulations.TEL Staffing is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action Employer.
