Job description
Welder PositionVelocity Dynamics, LLC is a subsidiary of Cleanwater1, Inc., a global provider of on-site hypochlorite generation equipment, polymer activation systems, chemical feed systems, and potable water mixing and treatment systems serving the water and wastewater treatment industries. The welder will be responsible for providing TIG and MIG welding for frames and other sub-assemblies. The successful candidate will have strong communication skills, and a high degree of initiative and follow-through. This is a full-time position based at the Company's Grain Valley, Missouri facility. The welder position reports to the Production Manager.Essential Job Functions:Review blueprints prior to starting a projectSource the materials to be used in the projectMeasure and cut materials to blueprint specificationsDetermine the appropriate welding equipment or method based on requirementsWeld materials using the correct materials to join the metals togetherWeld components in various positions (vertical, horizontal or overhead)Check finished work to ensure that it falls within the tolerances marked on the blueprintsTest and inspect welded surfaces and structure to discover flawsOperate press brake, saws and other fabrication equipmentKeep equipment operational by completing preventative maintenance requirement, following manufacturer's instructions, and troubleshooting malfunctions calling for repairsConserve resources and minimize waste generation to the extent possibleComply with safety and personal protective equipment policiesMeet project completion timelines and shipping schedulesMaintain a clean and efficient shop and production areaPerform other duties as assignedRequired Qualifications:Welding certificationHigh School diploma or GED preferredKnowledge of general shop tools and safety proceduresAbility to read and do general mathAbility to interpret and work from shop drawings and blueprintsKnowledge of metallurgyKnowledge of various welding techniques using 304 & 316 SS, including TIG and MIGKnowledge of manual and mechanical welding techniquesClear and concise oral and written English language communication skills required, including proper grammar and e-mail etiquetteAbility to follow verbal and written instructionsAbility to work under high pressure conditions and to successfully handle stressful situations efficiently, professionally and effectivelyExcellent analytical and problem-solving skillsAbility to make timely and sound decisionsDetail oriented, with a high degree of follow-throughStrong organizational and time management skillsAbility to work on multiple projects and activities and adapt quickly to time-sensitive needsStrong interpersonal skills and customer service orientationAbility to work independently and as part of a teamAbility to establish and maintain effective and professional working relationships with co-workers, management and members of the various business unitsAbility to adapt and work well with a variety of personalitiesPhysical Demands:Regularly required to stand, walk, sit, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop or kneel, speak and hear, and use fingers and hands to feel objects, tools or controlsMust have manual dexterity to operate the equipment and tools required for this positionMust be able to quickly respond (with the hand, finger or foot) to a signal (sound, light, picture) when it appearsMust maintain a clean and professional appearance while working with customers, vendors and colleaguesAbility to occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 lbs.Vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focusWork Environment:Light to Heavy Industrial - May be exposed to areas of high noise levels, hazardous propellants, chemicals and industrial facilities. Appropriate PPE and training will be provided for all conditions.Compensation is dependent on skill level. The base salary for this position is $32 per hour.
