Welder PositionWe are seeking a skilled and dependable welder with hands-on experience in heavy construction equipment (yellow iron) repair and trailer fabrication/repair. The ideal candidate takes pride in quality craftsmanship, works safely in a fast-paced shop environment, and has a strong understanding of various welding processes used in structural and heavy-duty applications.Key ResponsibilitiesYellow Iron (Heavy Equipment) WeldingInspect, repair, and rebuild structural components on heavy construction equipment including excavators, dozers, graders, loaders, and scrapersWeld wear plates, cutting edges, bucket teeth mounts, boom arms, frames, and other high-stress componentsPerform hard-facing and overlay welding to extend the service life of wear partsDiagnose cracks, fractures, and metal fatigue; determine proper repair procedures and pre-heat requirementsFabricate custom brackets, guards, and replacement parts as neededTrailer Fabrication & RepairFabricate and repair flatbed, lowboy, gooseneck, and utility trailers from raw steel stockWeld frame rails, crossmembers, neck sections, and hitches to required specificationsInstall and weld rub rails, stake pockets, toolboxes, winch mounts, and other accessoriesRepair collision and road damage to trailer structuresEnsure all welds meet DOT and industry structural standardsGeneral Shop DutiesRead and interpret blueprints, schematics, and work ordersSet up and operate welding equipment, cutting torches, plasma cutters, and grindersPerform light fabrication tasks including cutting, forming, and fitting steelMaintain a clean, organized, and safe work areaPerform routine maintenance and inspection of welding equipmentCommunicate job status and material needs to supervisorRequired QualificationsMinimum 3 years of welding experience in a heavy equipment or trailer fabrication environmentProficiency in MIG (GMAW) and flux-core (FCAW) welding; stick (SMAW) experience preferredAbility to weld in all positions (flat, horizontal, vertical, overhead)Experience welding mild steel, high-strength steel, and AR plateAbility to read blueprints, weld symbols, and work ordersWorking knowledge of cutting tools including oxy-acetylene torch and plasma cutterMust be able to lift up to 50 lbs. and work in various physical positions throughout the dayValid driver's license preferredPreferred QualificationsAWS D1.1 Structural Welding Certification or equivalentExperience with TIG welding on structural componentsFamiliarity with DOT trailer regulations and standardsExperience with hard-facing and overlay welding processesPrior work in a construction equipment dealership or OEM repair facilityPhysical RequirementsAbility to stand, kneel, crouch, and work in confined spaces for extended periodsTolerance for heat, noise, sparks, and fumes in a shop environment; proper PPE provided and requiredMust be able to wear all required personal protective equipment including welding helmet, gloves, and protective clothingWork EnvironmentFull-time position, Monday–Friday; overtime and weekends may be required based on workloadIndoor/outdoor shop setting.
