Welder Position at Rice Lake Weighing SystemsFor nearly 80 years Rice Lake Weighing Systems has been a successful, growth-oriented company known as a leader in the weighing industry and our community.At RLWS, our welders manufacture the toughest scales in the industry. The Welder will perform welding to satisfactory product standards and specifications, and ensured all items meet RLWS quality standards. This candidate will operate carbon air-arc, pencil grinders, disk grinders, cutoff wheels, and other hand tools as needed. This candidate will layout and fit various parts and assemblies while using various types of welding equipment set up in a variety of positions, such as flat, vertical, horizontal, and overhead. The Welder will ensure high quality work and safe practices are followed. Other functions as assigned.This position will work at our Jasper, AL location. Sunday - Thursday night-time hours (with $3/hour shift differential), 40 hours guaranteed, overtime as needed.Essential Job FunctionsOperate the overhead crane and forklift to move materialPerform MIG welding operations to RLWS quality standards and expectationsRead blueprints to perform proper weldsGrind parts and occasionally blast parts before or after welding operationsWork in a small group setting and independently to complete required workloadOperate power tools and basic hand toolsFrequent lifting <30lbOccasional lifting/carrying up to 50lbMust have ability to read and speak EnglishOther duties as assignedEducation and ExperienceHigh School Diploma or equivalent (GED)Welding degree or 2 (two) or more years of manufacturing welding experienceSkillsWorking knowledge of the practices, materials, methods, and tools of the welding tradeWorking knowledge of the hazards and safety precaution of the trade, and of the properties of ferrous and non-ferrous metalsSkill in the use and care of tools and equipmentAbility to read blueprints and other manufacturing documentationGood hand eye coordination and dexterityGood communications skills requiredAbility to efficiently read a tape measure and other inspection toolsOverhead crane and forklift experience preferredRLWS is a successful, energetic, customer-driven organization that offers competitive wages, great working conditions, medical, dental, vision, flexible spending, disability, life, 5 weeks PTO, holidays, 401k, and wellness benefit programs.If you need assistance with your application, please contact Rice Lake Weighing Systems at .
