Job description
Welding PositionUse hand-welding or flame cutting equipment to weld or join metal components or to fill holes, indentations, or seams of fabricated metal products.To accomplish this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform, with or without reasonable accommodation, each essential function satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to help enable qualified individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.Comply with safety and environmental guidelines, policies, and regulations.Clamp, hold, tack-weld, heat-bend, grind, or bolt component parts.Remove rough spots from work pieces, using portable grinders, hand files or scrapers.Feather or remove tacks using electric or pneumatic, grinders prior to welding beading pass.Chip or grind off excess weld, slag, or spatter, using hand scrapers or power chippers, portable grinders, or arc-cutting equipment.Weld components in flat, vertical, or overhead positions.Operate safety equipment and use safe work habits.Operate manual or semi-automatic welding equipment to fuse metal segments using processes, such as gas tungsten arc, gas metal arc, flux-cored arc, and submerged arc welding.WeLDER I:1-2 years of pipe welding experienceGeneral knowledge of tools, equipment, blueprints, models, and technical plansGeneral knowledge of machines, designs, repair, and maintenanceMaintain a rejection rate of 5% or below.WELDER II:2-3 years of pipe welding experienceExtensive knowledge of design techniques, production of technical plans, blueprints, models, and drawingsExtensive knowledge of materials, methods, and principals involved in the production of precise technical designs, uses and maintenance.Must possess the ability to perform at least three (3) processes.Maintain a rejection rate of 4% or below.Must be able to perform in most bays.WELDER III:3-4 plus years of pipe welding experienceExpert knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair and maintenance.Expert knowledge of design techniques, methods, production of precision technical plans, blueprints, and drawingsMust possess the ability to perform and be efficient in three (3) processes.Maintain a rejection rate of 3% or below.Must be able to perform in all bays.WELDER IV:5 plus years of pipe welding experienceExpert knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair and maintenance.Expert knowledge of design techniques, methods, production of precision technical plans, blueprints, and drawingsMust possess the ability to perform and be efficient in three (3) processes.Maintain a rejection rate of 3% or below.Must be able to perform in all bays.Competency Statement(s):Quality of Work - Demonstrates competence in required job skills and knowledge; accuracy, clarity, consistency, and thoroughness of work; gives feedback for continuous improvement of work product; understanding and mastery of processes, methods, systems, and procedures.Accuracy - Ability to perform work accurately and thoroughly.Productivity - Met previously established goals and objectives.Analytical Skills - Ability to use thinking and reasoning to solve a problem.Dependability - Takes responsibility for own actions; completed assignments in an ethical and mature manner.Active Listening - Ability to actively attend to, convey, and understand the comments and questions of others.Autonomy - Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.Time Management - Ability to utilize the available time to organize and complete work within given deadlines.Detail Oriented - Ability to pay attention to the minute details of a project or task.Working Under Pressure - Ability to complete assigned tasks under stressful situations.Skills & Abilities:Education: High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED): PreferredExperience: 1 plus years of experience in WeldingComputer Skills: Not applicable.Certifications & Licenses: None specifically required.
